FMIC project started.

Re: FMIC project started.

Got my true Mitsubishi 25g turbo today. I clocked it and turned the center section vertical for the oil feed. The quality of this turbo is a lot better than the last one. The compressor housing looks like its on steroids with the fins on it.

Re: FMIC project started.

turbo looks nice, i saw your battery thread and was wondering why it was so empty in your engine bay. good luck

Re: FMIC project started.

Is this bad? My oil drain is resting on the crossover tube. A friend said that will eat away at the silicon inside after it gets to hot. I know there are other avenues I could go for this. What do you guys think about it.

I used the same silicone coated fiberglass tube insulation (from your battery relocate thread) to provide added protection.

In addition, if you had a 45 deg. fitting on the outlet of the turbo drain it would put the hose in a better position around the x-over.

just somehow brace it so its not touching, being farther away the better, but as long as its is not physically touching it should be alright.

Re: FMIC project started.

I got the turbo fully installed. I found someone to weld the new drain flange onto the stock drain pipe. It worked out really well. Im more confident in this setup. Im glad I did it and took everyones advice.

Did you ever use that chinese 25G you installed? Guess what Renz heard was somewhat accurate, yes?

Never used it. I found some issues with it right off the bat. I got spooked and sent it back for a refund. I got a true mitsubishi 25g now. Its actually a really nice turbo. I think the fins on the compressor are strange but other than that. This turbo comes off a Isuzu turbo diesel truck.

good, that will be better, so whens this truck gonna be running?

I would say I will have it running in June. I still have a lot of work to do. As we all know tuning is the biggest part. Im not really sure what avenue I want to go yet. Pay Nolan for a tune or learn code59. I leaning towards 59 but it still scares me.
I also have 50# injectors that need to go in. Im going to get it running with the stock injectors and ultimate chip before I put the 50's in just to work out any issues that come up. Its definetly going to be a different animal.

Re: FMIC project started.

I have the majority of my intercooler piping installed. I may have to bead roll two edges but other than that here it is. I may weld my pipes in the future.

The truck is a little dusty in these pics from sitting so long but here is the FMIC fully installed. No rubbing or modificaiton to the grill was needed.

Re: FMIC project started.

where did u get that piping kit?
looks good, good job!

I got the kit on ebay. The kit came with couplers and t-bolt clamps. The bends they have are really simple to work with. I cut two pipes to length is all. I still need to bead roll the ends I cut.
