First time racin'

Went to the 1/8 mile track today for the first time. My best time was a 9.312, 60 foot et was a 1.990, and top speed was 73! I don't know if thats all that great, but I did beat a big headed dumb a$$ in a 454 chevy "Racing Truck." So in my eyes, I had some good runs for never goin to a track before. It was fun, love the Syclone even more, and drove her nice on the way home for a treat. My truck is completly stock, except for a batterey relocation and air box, so I am proud. I got a lot of, "That is one nice extreme", "Bullshit, that aint a V6", which made me smile alot. Now I have to change the breaks  , but I am going to texas for a few days, so i guess I will do that when I get back. Thanks for listening to my senseless typing, but I am still pumped and want to go to the track again right now!

Around .5 and 5 mph slow IMO. Not bad for first time out.

Did you defeat the 1st gear boost flag before your run?

Just relax and take your time.Don't even worry about the car beside you or the Christmas tree.
(I always ask the guy beside me if it's ok that I double bulb him,and no one has ever had a problem with it during test and tune> I just go up and stage while they are doing their burnout)

Once you are staged, concentrate on launching it right.Put it in nuetral tap the gas once while holding the brake down then shift it into drive. Build up your boost then launch it when it feels right.
The timer doesn't start until you cross the beam.

Track time doesn't start until then but reaction time is accumulating. To solely check 1/8 or 1/4 mile times though, the reaction time becomes a mute issue.

ditto... My first time out to the track I made that mistake. After that I took my time. I hated when the announcer would say sh!t like "looks like someone fell asleep!" while I sit there staging the truck when the lights already green.
