I work at Best Buy as a mobile installer, and today this guy came in and got a amp and sub installed in his accord. we were talking mobile stuff and he asked what i drove. i said the truck outside. he followed with," the typhooney one." I said yes the Typhoon. He responded with, " they named it Typhoon for the sound system right, good sound system." :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I said howd you know. then said no they named it Typhoon for the 4.3 turbo v6 AWD drivetrain.

He just smilled and said no $hit.

just wanted to let you all know that some ppl think the diference between a blazer and a ty is our sound systems.:rotf: :rotf:

I wonder if those DIN and a 1/2 radios in the Summit catalog work? But usually usually I just listen to the truck anyway.:)

Still looking for that elusive throwout bearing....

Just going by what your Sig says:

Greg

93 Ty - #0593 5 Speed Manual, blk/blk, needs some paint
93 Jimmy 4x4 - Beater

If, in fact, you have a manual trans I was wondering where you put the clutch pedal and all the hardware, ect, ect...

Re: First time I heard this one / manual trans talk

yes i put a 5 speed manual trans in the ty. it is actually alot easier than everyone makes it seem. went to the junkyard and got a brake and clutch bracket and pedal setup. clutch and brake are one unit under the dash. removed the brake unit from the ty and simply put the one from the blazer in its place, drilled bout a 3/4 in hole in firewall for the clutch master cylnder and wala. everything bolts right up, it looks the same under there no mater manual or auto.

the trans its self bolts right up in place also.

the only thing that kinda sucked was the transfercase. the ty one and the blazer one have the same bolt pattern, except that they each sit at a different angle. so when the ty case was bolted up to the 5 spd it was angled up just a little too much. so i had a shop rip apart the blazer transfer case and the ty case, and put some of the ty parts in it (so that when in 4x4 it is the same gear ratio as the ty case) so the ty has a pblazer xcase with partial ty parts. and yes i can shift it form 2wd to 4x4 wich makes for some fun, but 4x4 means business, just like the awd were all used too.

a little confusing but i think it sorta makes sence.
