first outting

Re: first outting

A good running Syclone can run mid 12's with the stock turbo and ~18psi.

Are your tires older and hard (i.e. they don't hook up)? It seems that you pushing through the brakes, but I know my Syclone would do 1.8 60's with 4-5psi launch (and old hard tires) I wonder if the Alky is too rich off the line and affecting your launch.

New tires with zero spin, at launch the ally has not started working yet. Seemed lazy until I got going a bit but that might be due to the low timing too.

Re: first outting

More timing will help, but I still it should run 12's with 14 degree of timing. I would think it should not feel lazy off the launch.

What is your 1/8 mile time and mph?

8.36@83.90 ya she kinda feels like a over sized turbo. lot of lag. its a rpm stage one turbonetic. not sure if its due to 13-14 deg of timing or turbo. with just the t/c switched off if it doesn't drop boost during shift I think it run 12's with the 14 deg of timing. it was really killing over in the shifts.

Re: first outting

Maybe your RPM turbo just needs a little more boost off the line.

Fix the launch and it will get you into the 12's. More timing and better boost control should get you deeper into the 12's.

Re: first outting

all righty I made it back to the last event for the year at our track. managed a 13.00@104.40. so close lol. this time I left torque converter lock up switch off until I got in 3 gear at about 4100 rpms. I also turn up timing up to 19 degrees's and leaned it out a little(11.5 to 1) and raise 2 step to 2400 rpm with a launch boost at 8lbs. everything felt better than previous outing but turbo still feels a little sluggish off the line. best 60ft was 1.84. think I could of raised 2 step but ran out of time. all in all I improved and drove it home so all good in my book. I think if I would went with billet wheel in stock turbo rather than rpm stage one cast it might respond better.

Re: first outting

You definitely had the mph for a 12.8 - 12.9 pass. You turbo must be a little slow to spool. I thought the RPM stage one was sorta close to a 20g ?

Re: first outting

I'm thinking the torque converter could be holding you back. I ran a precision 3300 in mine.

ya that could be too. at the 2400 setting on two step I was doing every thing I could to keep it from pushing threw brakes like converter was starting to tightening up before turbo was getting in its sweet spot. of coarse it is a 2400 stall. I started 2 step at 2200 and 4 lbs and creep up to 2400 at 8lbs and the delay once I let off foot brake was getting shorter. 3000 would prob be about right for this turbo I think to get it in its sweet spot

not sure really what it is as far as size and so forth. about all I know is its a turbonetics turbo with cast wheel. they didn't advertise size or what not just stage one,two three. but having turbos on mustangs in the past it seems like a miss matched turbo like to big of a a/r for motor. lot of lag when you hammer it. truck does have a turbo tweak chip and there is a boost solenoid ramp rate or something that is adjustable. don't know if they got it set really slow or not as I have not played with that setting yet.

Re: first outting

what would you guys recommend for a 3200 rpm stall converter(brand), with future plans 400-500 hp but stock with bolt on now
