First Engine Modifications

My 91 syclone is bone stock with 94k miles. The only modification is a borla catback exhaust.

I would like to do some upgrades that I can still use down the road when I eventually do an upgraded turbo,heads,shortblock etc.

What is the best brand of plug wires and cap/rotor to use?

Walbro 255lph in-tank pump should be sufficient for awhile correct?

What other tune-up items should I replace?

I'm just open to any ideas you guys have to offer. I'd like to start out with a 2000.00 budget.

Taylor or MSD are good wires. Napa sells good cap and rotors. Just make sure the cap has the brass inserts. Walbro pump should be fine for most applications. I started with a 2k budget too.

Here is what I did that felt good.
Walbro pump
3 bar map
Chip. ultimate or phil long
50# injectors
Scan Tool. Should be your first mod. IMO
ngk ur 6's
taylor wires.
cap
rotor
MSD stock replacement coil
Upgraded a2w pump
aux IC.
That should run you around 1500 and give you a solid truck. Add alky for 500$ more and you should be in the 12's

Make sure the first two inprovements that you make are the fuel pump and a AFPR set at 45lbs with the stock chip.

Ops forgot to add the AFPR.
Check the venders. turbo time, detroit turbo and RPM all carry good regulators.
3 bar map is only needed when you upgrade the chip to a 3 bar chip. A bar is equal to 14.7 lbs of boost or vac. Our trucks come with 2 bar, one for boost and one for vac. The 3 bar allows the computer to read past 14.7 and understand what the value is to adjust fuel for the engine. I beleave thats how it works.

As far as 3 bar map, what gip said is good. But remember this, You can only use a 3 bar map with a 3 bar chip. It will not work with the stock chip and the stock 2 bar map will not work with a 3 bar chip.

You may want to use NGK Iridium UR6IX part # 7348 for your plugs. It was one of the best things I did. As far as your list of parts any of the vendors on this site can set you up. You may be able to get a package deal on price as well. Where are you located? Welcome to the site.
