Finally!

Re: Finally!

That picture reminds me, the gas gauges are frequently wrong too. So if it ever dies but still has gas in it, it might not really have gas in it. Mine runs out just below 1/2 tank.
Just another tidbit to keep in mind.

WOAH! can anyone help here? i really dont think the oil press. is suppose to be that high! could it just be a bad guage?!

Re: Finally!

Just curious, how did you hear of this truck? Was it advertised nationally?

actually i was searching on craigslist for a car. but i wasnt going to settle for a slow car, my real intentions were to get a car that could beat my buddies stock saturn ion. i was pondering many many vehicles and was heart set on a s2000 or an audi allroad(pretty nice, fairly fast after upgrades but not like a stock ty) till i stumbled upon this truck and i was like what the hell is a typhoon?! so i quickly wikipedia'd it and found out the stats and a few websites to check out, so i did and i decided this was the truck for me! fell in love with it.

Interesting, thanks. Was it listed in craigslist Idaho or Arizona? Great find. So you're daily driving it??

Some of us don't need jackstands (yet) and just keep in the garage like a garage-queen. You've got a stock Garnet...might be a good idea. Weekend driver.

Re: Finally!

so i was talking to the guy i bought if from to find out he took it to the track once 1/4:14.30 @ 98MPH i'd say not bad for a stock ty with then 70,000 miles on it, right?

haha yeah, im hoping that i can keep it in great condition and keep as a daily driver with no major issues and one day retire it and keep as just a collector and take it out once in a while like people with their old porche's and such do and only for car shows... i'd enjoy that... but that is waaaaaayyyy far down the line!

Those are correct figures. With a good tune and a great driver (or a super fresh truck) people have gotten into the mid-high 13's (stock).

Re: Finally!

Id listen to the mechanic on modifiying it. Sounds like he knows what he's talking about, your garnet is like the GN's, turbo TA's, I think in 5yrs these trucks with less than 100k mi are gonna be worth much more, especially the one of maybe 20 or so garnets.

I very much agree. And remember, there are not many fully stock trucks left out there. I know for a fact right now that stock originals are appraised much higher than you'd expect them to be. Keep it bolt on (reliability mods), keep all stock parts in hand, and keep the miles under 100k and you could have a great investment down the road, while enjoying your Ty like you want with no jack stands. :)

Oh yeah, and try to find some Corvette wheels to put on it to preserve the stockers and to keep them from getting bent. just my :2cents:

Notice the wing has been added as well. The pic I posted is from the sportmachine database, before Casey bought it.

Re: Finally!

I did NOT know that. That the grill should match the body on 93's. Thanks. It's possible to learn something every day.

Please note:

5:34pm EST on 2/3/09

I got to school DaveP on something he didnt know.

:tup::rotf:

While we are on it.... there are 2 different style roof racks too. The old 1980s looking boxy POS, then the nicer sleeker looking style. Not something everyone always notices.
