Re: exact location of rear decals? 92 ty?

I provided these measurements in a discussion in this thread. Sorry the pics are gone but these were taken using a '92 decal. Crap - I just realized there's nothing for the tailgate...

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33182

Here's what I have from a new (Avery) decal with alignment marks for a Ty.

The bottom of the Y = 1 5/16"
The bottom of the N = 1 3/4"

If you are doing the left door the T = 5 3/8" from the edge if you were to draw a straight line.

Right door - the N = 5 7/16" - again, drawing a straight line.

The total decal length is 12 5/16 most outside part of the T to the most outside part of the N.

If you need/want something different please let me know.

I still have the decal - I can get measurements later if you can't find anything.

The alignment marks on an Avery decal are for the 93 position.

YES, even on a grey 92 decal, the marks are for the 93 tailgate position. See?:

I have a 92. AFAIK mine are in stock location since the old ones were still the gray. When I put my new ones on the old ones were still on and I outlined them in tape before I removed them to make sure the new ones were in the right spot. I will be out in the garage later and can take some measurements and pictures of still needed.

That would help if you guys can get the measurements for me. I can still see where my original ones were on the doors but not the tailgate since it was repainted.

Here's mine. Like I said, on mine at least, this is the exact location of the stock ones, as they were the ones I removed and did them the same way as my pictures below when I changed them.

Basically, made a level box all the way around the logo since the logo itself doesn't have corners per say.

TYPHOON LOGO
Left of box: 1" from the side of the tailgate
Top of box: 5 1/4" high from the bottom of the tailgate (NOTE: that is with keeping the tape measure completely touching the metal on the "lip" at the bottom of the tailgage - if that makes sense)
Bottom of box: 2 3/4" high from bottom of tailgate (Same as above with the lip at the bottom of the tailgate
Right side of box, didn't measure because you won't need that length

GMC TRUCK LOGO
Left of box: 10 3/4" from the right side of the tailgate
Top of box: 5 1/4" from bottom of tailgate (including lip at bottom)
Bottom of box: 4 1/4" from bottom of tailgate (lip again)
Right side doesn't matter

The height is higher, but the 1" side spacing is the 93 position. 92 side spacing is abut 4.5" to the LH tip of the "T" from the edge.

The 93 are in a better looking position but gonna go original...thinking its like 5 inches off the sides like Dave is sayin.

These look a tad too low, but hard to know for sure. The side spacing for the T looks correct.

The side spacing on an Avery grey (92) Ty decal is 5-3/8" from the edge to the tip of the T for the driver door cladding. The door cladding position didn't change for the two years. I'm now thinking that the 92 tailgate used the same side-spacing as the driver door cladding did.

Not sure about height, though.

Finally found a pic..this is what I can recall being the correct placement for a 92. I might map out from the pic what the measurements are. Truck without decals on them to me seem like no attention to detail on making it look authentic...lots of those trucks out there.

Re: exact location of rear decals? 92 ty?

ok, mapped it..I'm hoping someone with an original can confirm

TYPHOON
edge of left gate to edge of the T= 4.60 inches
bottom of tailgate to bottom of letters T and H= 4.60 inches

GMC Truck

To edge of right tail gate to outer edge of the K= 6.45 inches

bottom of tailgate to bottom of all GMC truck letters= 4.90 inches

Still looking for a confirmation before I apply them..I tried to recruit a guy selling his 13k mile 92 Ty, but I think all he cares about is flipping his Ty.

Interesting. For fun, I got out my OEM '92 Ty decal just to see where they would have gotten the alignment marks.

On the bottom of the decal, it has the text:

LOCATE TO FEATURE LINE
& LEFT EDGE OF TAILGATE

Drawing a straight line up from that mark the T is 1" in. I wonder if this is where the '93s are?

But....if I go to the 'cladding alignment marks it puts it at 4 15/16" (let's call it 5") in.

And the bottom of the Y is at 1 1/4" from the 'feature line'.

Re: exact location of rear decals? 92 ty?

Is it confirmed that ALL 92s were stock half way across the tailgate? Maybe PAS fired the drunk ass who thought that placement was good half way through production?
