My dad works at the auto parts store 2 miles from his house, so a good parts guy won't be hard. I don't expect any sensor issues though.

It's definitely do able. I've had my motor out so many times that it has become an "easy" task. That's not a good thing! I can have one out on the ground in about 3 hours if I hustle. I've taken one out, and put one back in a weekend before. I usually work alone as well. Just need someone with me to help guide the engine into place then get out of my way! Good luck! It's defintely possible if you aren't adding anything and don't run into issues.

It might take you guys longer to polish up all that aluminum when you're done! lol

Awesome. That's close to where I'll be. I'm down there a lot actually...

+1. I am to the point that anything more than regular maintenace and id almost rather pull the motor than work on it in the truck! Of course that may change some now that i can do plugs in just minutes and dont even need to drain any coolant to pull the intake manifold

Your task at hand is certainly possible. Those wrench cram sessions can be a lot of fun. I dont know that youll be able to have it done and clean though.

I'll bring gaskets and my common and useful tools. I can R&R almost everything except the engine block.

Ok trip got delayed due to my schedule with nats and some issues with getting the "long block" into actual long block status.

With that said leaving on a plan this afternoon, Richard is picking me up at the airport and the adventure will start first thing in the morning.

My goal is old motor out, new motor in by end of day tomorrow with it running. Saturday tie up loose ends, tuning.

Good luck! Wish I could make it to help or watch, but got my own spur-of-the-moment project to keep me busy this weekend.

Since so many things were overlooked/missing from the "longblock",I suggest a total rebuild before you guys install it.

Jeff isn't doing it all by himself. I will be there both days to help so we should be able to do it.

The long block is ready to be dropped in. Oil pump is installed. Oil pan is bolted on. Roller lifters, pushrods, and rocker arms installed. New water pump bolted on. Comp Cams assembly lube applied to all moving parts.

 We still need to bolt on the lower intake. I was going to do that last night but we need to transfer the engine lift brackets from my current engine over first. Also, some of the bolt holes on the new lower intake might need to be elongated just a tad more.

Good idea. I will pick up several boxes of band aids and some leather gloves today.

Free lunch and dinner on me to anybody that shows up and help. We might also need a bone stock engine bay to look at when putting things back together.
