Engine flexing

About a month ago my engine was flexing when I launched and my alternator was eating holes in my upper radiator hose. Well, I took it to a shop here in town to have the driver-side motor mount checked and replaced. They charged me to have it replaced and I assumed it was fixed. A few weeks later, I went to do a launch and once again, I get a hole in my hose. Could the shop have not replaced my motor mount, or could something else be wrong with it? The motor mount is the only thing I can think of that'd allow the engine to flex. If that's the problem, I'm gonna take it back to them and have them fix it for free. If any of you can think of something else it might me, please let me know.

Even with new motor mounts the motor will torque to the passenger side causeing the alt fan to hit the hose, gota love v-6 torque, just put a engine tie down in there and you should be okay, i did a 3/8 cable with a turn buckle from the back of the alt. bracket down to the frame so you can tighten the turn buckle snug and will keep the torque monster from moving so much. :D

Question, how much did they charge you to replace the mount? Because if it wasn't much I would say that they didn't replace it. Changing a motor mount with the engine still in is a b**ch. I would have to agree that a motor tie down is probably your best bet.

NAPA pn#819-5738 for Ford. I kept alternately stretching or ripping the ends off them after 2 or 3 launches. Worked well until then, though. No problems with the new strap I mad, even after 50+ launches.

I think they charged me around $120 to replace the motor mount.

BTW FLSY2730, it's definately not normal because it wasn't doing it until about two months ago.

I'll check the tranny mounts to see if those are the cause.

Thanks for the responses, keep them coming.

You could also check the rad. hose and loose the clamp by the thermostat neck and turn the hose a little bit and it will change the angle so it is farther away from the alt., thats what i did for mine and it helped along with a stout tie down. :D
