Engine build.

Well My 9 second gto is now sold and awaiting bank to clear check. I will now be starting on my syclone build.

I will be using a stock block with some work done to it- bored, 4 bolt mains ect.
Does anyone know of stroker cranks for our trucks that dont cost $3500 fing dollars.
I will be buying some parts from RPM but if that the only price for stroker cranks then i will be using a stock/treated crank. I mean damn my lunati crank in my gto was only a little over 1k.

I will be going with ported vortec heads and a custom cam from rpm.
Eagle 5.7 rods and Extreme duty JE pistons.
Turbo will prob be a 67mm. I will be running twin walbros in tank for the fuel.

If anyone has any info or help they want to add it would be great.

The truck has a built trans with 3000 converter, 5 pinion plants, billet servo ect., RPM coil overs all around, and I have a set of caltraks. I also have a built 4l80e if the 700r4 breaks.

Goal is to run down in the 10s and still be able to drive it.

Re: Engine build.

With that build, forget the 700r...it will break quickly. Save time and put the 4l80e right away.

Also, with that build I see no reason why a stock treated crank wouldn't work...depending on boots/power levels, the shortcoming will be the block IMO.

Anything over 700hp on the stock block is pushing it.

I have never seen the crank you want for cheap.

I think 600hp should be enough to run in the tens easy with a good 60ft.
The 700r4 is built with the same internals on my gto trans and my gto is heavier then the syclone and that trans has seen several 9 second passes and countles 10's with 1.44 60 fts. If it breaks then it breaks lol thats just part of racing. I just want the truck to run solid 10's on either drag radial or street tires.

:stupid: You don't need a stroker crank for a 600hp build, you could get away with a smaller turbo if you wanted. I have seen PTE 67 make 700hp.

If you have it already built I would run the 700 for the time being. The difference is that your Syclone is also spinning Transfer Case, Prop shaft, Front differential, axles, and front wheels. That is a lot of additional rotational mass.

Re: Engine build.

It does not require 600hp to get a Sy in the 10's. I bet you can do it with low-to-mid-400's HP with a good 60'. I ran my Ty in the 10's with a little 62mm turbo at 3900+# last year. I am partial to the Bullseye Power turbos, but that isn't the flavor of the week so not many people run them.

Good luck with your goals!

Re: Engine build.

Thanks guys. Looks like the treated stock crank is what I will be going with.
I will be trying for 600hp if it makes more then great and if less then I will have to change some things lol. Any turbo suggestions you guys have I will be interested in hearing them. Thinking of a 67-74mm range.

Re: Engine build.

Bullseye Power CompR66 is what I am running. At 26# it made over 780hp with no intercooler. Plenty more in her if I wanted to turn the wick up a little. As for how quickly it comes into boost, just ask twinturboV8Ty how it responds.

Are you using stock headers with that turbo/ factory location? Is it BB? What downpipe ect/ price.

Just had a ride In Alex's truck Yesterday. All I can Say is HOly SH***TTTTTTTTT I have never been in a car thats has gone that fast. Sounds like a dam jet hitting the afterburners I couldnt pull myself forward from the seat. I thought I was gonna break his seat actually luckily I didnt :) Looking under the hood is amazing pics dont do it Justice. Jumped into my TY today and it feels like a yugo! hahahah I think the bug bit me. Hats off to your truck Alex it is one badass Machine. Definetly TOP GUN. I dont Think a new ZR1 vette has chance. Comes to show you its in the Build/ Tune.

Re: Engine build.

Bringing up my old thread. I now have the new motor with forged icon pistons .040, eagle rods ect. I am buying qbnkiller's ready to run vortec heads which he is going to drop off to me on his way through OKC.

Now it's time to pick the right turbo. Already am think of the a bullseye turbo but open to others. Goals are simple high 10's to 10.50 being the fastest I will be going. If i can get a nice setup to hit close to 10.50 i will be more than happy. So I want to run a turbo that will have the topend pull but still spool fast for a good launch. Picky i know.

Re: Engine build.

Did you check into the Bulls Eye turbos Alex suggested? I'm curious what power level they say you'll need to reach you goal....and what $. They should be able to suggest the correct stall to help you spool qucikly too.

Sure did, prob be going with a 64mm batmo or 67mm. Should make plenty of power to get where I want. I also have to pick the right cam aswell. I want to use the smallest/ streetable cam I can to get there so maybe the comp 415 or a custom grind. Bill said the 64mm is around 1500-1600. I will need to let him know what housing i want t3 or t4 so anyone that can help with which one i need would be great. i am running stock manifolds and prob use the rpm 3inch downpipe.

Keep in mind I am coming from building bigger ls engines running nitrous so this is the first turbo setup I am putting together

Re: Engine build.

Well I got my pro gram 4 bolt mains and front main cap and installed them yesterday.
I also got the 67mm turbo, downpipe, injectors and a multichip from rpm ordered. I decided to stay on gas and go with alky injection for the street and c16 for the track since I dont really drive the truck that much other then to race.

I am really more focused on the 1/8th since we run more of that around my parts then the 1/4th. My goal is to get the truck to run in the 6's in the 1/8th. Cant wait to finish the truck.

Re: Engine build.

So you got a 67 from RPM? Too bad....the BatMo66 would have been a bad-ass piece!

That is what Bill told me to run too. You think I could hit 10's up here with that? I'm thinking next size or two up. Not a bad price either.

Re: Engine build.

The BatMo66 on our 4.3L will make well over 800hp at 27#......more if you turn it up to 30+. The nice thing about the BatMo turbos is their area under the curve. They make mad torque down low!! Just look at my last two dyno sheets for proof of that.
