Electrical problem- NEED HELP

Hi,

Here goes- connected the battery without the ignition on/ without the key in the ignition. Jumped into the interior and the 'check engine' and 'brake' idiot lights were on. The 'check gauges' light was blinking all without the key in the ignition. Then, put the key in the igntion and turned it on. The 'brake' and 'check gauges' idiot lights went out (check engine stayed on) and the truck turned over. Once the key was back out, the 3 idiot lights came back on and stayed on until I disconnected the battery.
Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated-

Sounds to me like there is more to the story here. What condition led you to removing the battery cable etc? Go thru what you have done since the truck actually ran?

Check fuses and fusable links.
