Egr Valve ????

what exactly is the egr job and if it is bad will it cause the iac position to go to 0 in park. when its running and watching dm iac goes to zero, but when i push in on the egr diaphram it comes back up. anybody experienced this before or know what the problem is. also after awhile running after iac position goes to zero dtc erroe occurs and shows 02 rich #45 code. thanks craig

Exhaust Gas Relief Valve I believe is its designation, from what everyone tells me here its job is release exhaust gas back into the atmoshpere at cruising speeds, which it releases very close to the intake incidentally warming it up, I.E. egr delete kits.
I believe its normal for it to push in and press back out, atleast mine does it.
Thats all the info I got for you hope it cleared something up.

exhuast gas recirculation vavle. recirculates exhaust gas back into the intake to help improve emmissions and such. and yes the vavle is suppose to move back and forth. you should be able to unhook the vaccum line attached to it and put your thumb over it and feel the air. if not you probably have a busted diaphram and it needs replaced or deleted

What Are Somethings I Can Check For That Maybe I Havent Check That Would Cause The Iac Position To Go To Zero On Datamaster While In Park And Idling Or Is It Suppose To Do That?

....or the idle speed manually adjusted too high, or timing advanced too far.

If your engine is idling fine at 0 steps, then its not a problem. If its idling too high, then you need to fix it.

So Your Telling Me That If The Iac Position Drops To Zero In Park And No Adjustment Weather I Go Up Or Down With The Idle Screw Its Ok And I Dont Need To Worry, It Looks Like All My Past Dm Logs Slowly Creeped Down From Around 40 On The Iac Position Down To Zero It Just Doesnt Make Since To Me !

ok. i figured it out the idle was to high to compensate the iac sensor wants i lowered the idle adjustment it is now in the 30-40 iac position range but it idles 750-900 rpm. thanks for all the help sometimes little things can be the biggest problem hope this helps out with anybody new to this.

Hey I'm a new member, and pretty green on these great cars, but from my experience, the EGR valve is more of an emmision control than anything else. It also causes problems on turbocharged cars due to the shunting of hot, dirty exhaust gasses back into the intake. Does it affect these cars negatively to simply vent the EGR to the atmosphere and leave it? (except for emmisions time:)

ive tried searching but come up with anything. When deleting the egr valve what do you do with the vacuum line coming off of it??
