ralph whos ty is that in your sig with the wheels in the air?

Gotta be Dean Ollars
There is only 3 that do that, Mike Lee but his has Gray cladding, Tom Ferrick, but his doesn't have cladding past the doors, and Dean Ollar, who that one appears to be as its blk/blk and has full cladding.

Re: Ed Hess

From what I hear, Ed doesn't drive his Sy on the street anymore. At the track, 2WD definately has the advantage over AWD.

Re: Ed Hess

A syclone without AWD is just a S10 with syclone stripe´s..

The unic thing about the Syclone is "Pickup with V6, turbo and AWD"

The Sy/Ty is from producer made with V6 and turbo thats it. so anny change from this is "in my eyes not a Sy/ty"

The liknes on Camaro´s with BB or Sb is not fair , they came with these engines from scratch ( depending on year and make some had a V6) never the less they all came with a V8 option.

The early chevy II had in line 4 - 6 and V8 as option. not a V6 so puting down a V6and turbo (with have been done and did realy good) does´nt make that chevy II/ Nova in MY eyes. just a hybrid.

Re: Ed Hess

correct a sy/ty is a v6 awd turbo anything else is a race truck on a syclone body and vin. does it matter to me, no fast is fast but a real sy/ty is a v6 awd turbo. same as a mustang funny car on a tube chassis and a hemi it is not a mustang it is a funny car or race car does it matter no fast is fast. i would drive it either way :)

hated cuz he drives fords
Re: Ed Hess

Im pretty sure the for going 2wd is because at his power level it's just not safe to run the awd and the recent accident brought that to the surface im sure but eitherway it's a syclone it has the vin to prove it and he's actually the original owner it just a drag race only syclone :)

Re: Ed Hess

A 2wd Syclone is still a Syclone, its just modified from its original configuration (much like a V8 SyTy).

When Ed's truck is faster than MrSyclone (or whoever hold the top spot with v6 Turbo, AWD). most poeple will not consider it to be fastest SyTy. Most other car group would think the same way as well, GN onwers don't think of the fastest GN as a TT V8, its the Buick Turbo V6 that get the prestige.

If I was building a Syclone to run 8's like Roberts Syclone, I would probably do an AWD LSx Turbo.

Re: Ed Hess

Im not that picky :D a V6 is a V6

A V8 is a V8 Sb or BB or hemi or... but Usually I dont go over the GM (Chevy - BOP) Ford or Mopar limits if I can avoid it :D

A L6 is a supra engine or a volvo or a opel och a chevy 6 cyls in a row..

Re: Ed Hess

Are we conserned about fast AWD then look at the skyliner´s THEY are fast..

But are they considered AWD??? over here its questioned because the AWD is automatic shut down to only RWD after a short while so its a borderline matter for the rule/regulation people

hehehehe

I know Ed was experimenting with different gearing front/rear and different tires, then we have the debate about a lockout/limited slip diff in the front or not, but bouth Matt Hoover and Ed tryed some sort and dumped this to be dangerous, but Roberts have been realy straight almost all the time when tracktion is good. on street surface he can get some side ways, but not to bad and still 9,18 ET on road tracktion is good..

Think the 3 have some different aproach to the front settings and Roberts is more succsesful than the other 2????

Is Ed shifting manually?? maybe when steering whit one hand (lots of power and shift) and the tires gripps/slipps with the higer gear and makes the car powersteer and U get those wormbehavior???

Robert still have the 4L80e and drives with bouth hands on the wheel..

race or get outta the way
Re: Ed Hess

this is really pretty simple here.

The goal is to be able to run safely, competitivley and with consistancy in the 8.50 index events here.

Awd does not allow that.

Once power levels reach a certain point awd doesnt help but holds you back.

The "syty purest awd mentality" does not go hand in hand with that goal.
