I have some quick questions...

Who's driving the Swedish Syclone at the Nats? Does that individual have an NHRA Competition license to run 9.99 or quicker? Does the cage in that truck meet 25.1 or 25.2?

The driver is me, Robert P. I have a dragracing-license, which I have had for 10 years. Yes the cage is approved for 7.5 Sec. Yes we have the same rules here in Sweden. You can see the tag below.

According to Pat Cvengros at NHRA headquarters in Glendora, CA, that tag is not accepted. All vehicles competing at an NHRA member track in the U.S. must comply to NHRA rules for the applicable ET and MPH. The NHRA does not accept international chassis tags or licenses. This has also been confirmed with the West Central Division of the NHRA, Bob Blackwell, who oversees tech at KCIR.

If that truck does not have bars that extend rearward from the main hoop, and at an angle minimum of 30 degrees from vertical, the chassis tag would need a 25.1 or 25.2 certification (Funny Car style), from the NHRA of course.

I have an email specifically from Pat directing me to the track. And I have an email from the track giving us the ok.

Are you like the NHRA watchdog or something. 3 posts and all about this subject?

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, nor am I concerned with losing (not even sure how that would be possible unless this Sy runs in Ultimate Street). I just recently saw pictures of that truck and wondered how it can legally run 8's in the States; although the pics were not the best.

I am curious about that email from KCIR. I didn't think any track would take on that liability; although it may at their discretion.

Ok was a yoke then.. sometimes its hard to tell on the internet, the writher have a good joyfull day, everythinks positive and fun and you wright in that mood.

The reader have a bad day reads thinks his way and take it negative.. this is a common problem on the internet and different language also does harder to inturpent the "meaning"

Ones more Time then,,
Sweden and europe have the same rules as NHRA, the diferense is some of the tags you got sema we got FIA tags the parts are the same, the truck is legal to7,50 in sweden, europe and other country´s and have with help from Jeff been aprovet in US the rearward bars is on dispense because this is a streetlegal truck NOT a RACECAR,,,

the moment Roberts truck no longer passes the inspecktions for street legaly the bars will be on demand..

Rules are rules and You could always ask for a dispence..

Sometimes we over here get confused U seams to hav 2 types of rules?? NHRA and IHRA whats the difference and whos rules are "top dog"?

we aren't holding an NHRA event. We have the track rented out to ourselves. Most tracks tend to let you do what you want in these instances.

Thanks for the clarification. Hats off to KCIR for circumventing NHRA policy in order to let people have fun. So, who is doing the tech inspections? I will assume not KCIR officials since they are subsidised by the NHRA, and expected to follow the rules while they're getting paid to do so. Also, if the NHRA's rules are not followed at this event, what rules are? Is there special rules written somewhere for special circumstances?

Every time I've rented Bandimere I've been made to follow the rules set forth by their governing body, the NHRA; with no exceptions. I wish I knew about this a long time ago.

The rearward bars have nothing to do with street legality. Safety and rule compliance would be the concerns.

When you say the truck is legal to 7.50 in the U.S. with the help of Jeff, does that mean that an NHRA tech inspector has looked at the chassis, sonic checked the bars, checked the welds, checked all the angles with the driver in driving position? And installed an NHRA certification tag?

I'm just curious because every truck cage I've built needed the rear bars to cert to 8.50. A truck without those bars requires a Funny Car cage; and for any car to get a 7.50-8.49 tag in the States, as of a couple years ago, requires a Funny Car cage. I couldn't tell in any of the pics if that truck had one or not. But it didn't look like it as it would stick out like a sore thumb on a truck.

I'm still new to all this international stuff; I think its cool for sure.

I love this country. Guy builds a fast truck, makes it legal and correct for sweden (who follows our NHRA rules with minimal changes) and he gets called out saying his track isn't official, not to spec, too short, etc.

So then he ships his truck over from Sweden to prove it isn't a fluke and people want to beat up on the cage, etc.

As far as I know nobody here is the official at KCIR or any other track he will run at in US, and Robert hasn't asked for help from anybody else in regards to this matter aside from myself.

So unless your involved WTF difference does it make? Everybody wants to be in each others business sometimes they shouldn't be in.

Agreed.

Just let the guy run and if he kicks everyones a$$ so what. The only V6 truck I can think of thats actually made a pass down the track and jumped through all of nhra's hoops is Ed. I never once saw anyone pitch a fit over Pete H, Doc Hoover, or for that matter any low 11 second trucks that didnt even have a cage.

I'm certainly not beating up on his cage. I'm just learning about international drag racing and rule compliance. I sure wish the officials around here were as easy going as they are in MO.

I see me questions have been conveniently avoided in lieu of personal attacks against me.

I am not personally attacking. Your asking how it mets NHRA specs, NOT swedish specs.

If you want to know about how it is legal in sweden then ask. The way it is posted it doesn't read that way.

The truck is %100 legal to run, race, drive in sweden. Both on the road and off the road. Robert has both standard drivers license as well as his racing licenses. I have copies of it all and can assure you that is true.

Hell the truck is at my house 50ft from me right now. It is built right and safe. We will run it at the US. Some tracks are a PITA, some are not. I have seen people RIDE shotgun on 10 sec. passes teaching the owner how to drive a lenco.

I have seen people run 10's in shorts, 10 with bolt in roll bars not even bolted in, etc.

Is it safe, or correct no. Roberts is 100% legit and safe to his specs. End of story.

Worse case we run 11.51's at KC.
