Driveshaft bolts...

So I 'm swapping to my built tranny today and I get to my front driveshaft and low and behold the last owner stripped all the ribs off the torx bolts on both sides. I tried like hell to get something to grip but nada was happening.

Any suggestions?

if you collect tools like i do a set of the craftsman bolt out sockets will work wonders if you can get them in there and no grinding required

Heating the flanges with a torch will help them come out also.

The bolts aren't stuck, only rounded.Who has good propshaft bolts? I need them anyway. I could use the search button but I'm lazy.

Heh, gotta love the USPS. I sent your bolts out saturday morning and you got them the next business day. Another member got his today too out in Cali (both got mailed at the same time). I have sent bolts to Hawaii and they made it there in two business days. On the other hand, folks just a state away from me have had to wait almost a week...

Re: Driveshaft bolts...

This is the tool I used and no grinding was necessary, just get a decent grip on the bolt close to the flange and it gets tighter the more you push against the pliers. Took less than a minute to take out the stripped bolts. Bought me some nice strong bolts from SY2932 as well.

I'm considering buying a Gilbert while I have the propshaft out. I have a shake in the front end between 60-70mph. I just had the wheels rebalanced again and it didn't solve it so I'm guessing thats what it needs.
