Draining the front differential

I did a search and couldn't find anything. To drain the front diff, do you need to suck all the fluid out of the fill hole?

Go get yourself a suction gun.

Looks like a grease gun, mine is a lincoln and has a lifetime warranty.
holds 18oz or so and can drain the front diff in less than 5 minutes.

There is no drain plug in other words...

OK, thanks guys. Already got it, drained it, and refilled. And god damn  , my front diff fluid was disgusting. Thick and nasty. Needed the change.

I drilled and tapped mine. the casting is really thin all around so you must be careful where you place the drain hole.

look on my site and you can see a larger pic. link is in the sig. You can see the fill hole in the pic. locate that and then you can estimate where it sits in the truck.

you obviously want it in the lowest point. but then you get into a spoy where the case is thin.

you could weld it up so that you have more meat. or just get a front diff case fron a new s truck. they all have drains on them now.
