Hey Frank it sure is great reading and following along with all your success. Not many Typhoons in the 10s with a simple build like this. My girlfriend and local Syclone friend know all about your Typhoon because I keep talking about it with them! :)

My favorite part is the stock exhaust manifolds. Keep up the good work and have fun!!!

I think some of you have my tire sizes wrong Im running a bfg drag radial in the back only 315/35/18 on 10.5 wide zo6 wheels and a 275/35/18 GY GSD3 on a 9.5 wide zo6 rims. There both 26.2 " tall. Ive got front BFG drag radials on back order.

Yep, your gonna damage the viscous with that if you do much driving. 275/40/18 would've been perfect on the front. Right now your circumference is 4" off. Plenty to cause problems with the viscous. It's your truck were just trying to help. You can't go by height. Use that tire calculator and plug in your tires and see what the specs are. It's an eye opener. What you have right now is making 32 revolutions per mile difference between the front and back. That means every mile is 214' difference between the front and the rear and viscous is shearing that distance. Like I said, your truck. I just hate to see you have a failure over something that could've been prevented.

I Just Had My Drag Radials Mounted With No Front Prop The Truck Definetly Likes To Spin Em. I Only Did 1 Small Burnout And 5 Or 6 Pull Aways From A Stop Light And Spun For About 10 Ft Before Hooking Up And Goin. They Are Just About Bald Already. Is It Me Or Do They Have A 0 Tread Ware? Im Not Sure I Can Go To The Track With These.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

Congrats on your success Frank! The Ty is performing like you expected, thats what counts. This feedback with your build is great, I think the BS3 is what makes it all come togather so well and so safely. No knock and your tuning it yourself, makes you a professional. Listen to Blake about the wheels, he knows his stuff. Keep up the good work, you are a motivation to my build-up on my Sy. Budget is tight but BS3 comes first, hell it would be great for a stock truck, if i could have went back in time it would have been my first mod. Everyone does things different, is what counts is you meet your goals.

Having stock exhaust manifolds is not really that bad. ;)

Congrats on getting thrown off the track.
But really congrats on your runs!

Hey Frank,

After having a conversation with Harry the other night i found out that he only installed a start-up, cold start, and baseline idling tune the truck never had the chance to take it out on the road so you could drive and he could evaluate the tune on the highway. You had some issues with wiring for the tranny so he let you take it home to get the wiring fixed and then was to bring it back after you corrected the wiring. You never gave him the chance to really tune your truck like mine. Of course my truck had boost issue last time me and him got together so we only placed a safe tune in until i could fix my issues.

So i just think that you choose to mess with the Big Stuff 3 before you gave Harry an opprotunity to really tune your truck.

As soon as me and Harry get together and tune my truck with the alky kit then we will see what my truck has in it.

Yes thats true Harry did just throw a tune in my truck to get it to run (my guess is it was your map from his prevoius tunning session) I was very careful when turning up the boost on Harrys tune. What i found was even at 27psi of boost it was still very rich. So the best et i was able to get was 11.60s. I had made tons of changes to that map to get it to run 11.00s I will let Harry finish the job! Hes always busy or its just to dam hot to go for a better tune. I also figured id take it as far as my knowledge of tunning could go in the mean time Then call in Harry to squeeze out the rest! Im noware near as pacient as you. I could never go 3 months at the track runnig 18psi of boost running 11.50s when i know im sitting on a 10 sec truck. I understand you dont want to hurt the motor. Im in this to have fun and learn somthing If i had to have sombody tune it for me every step of the way id learn nothing. Thats why i build all my car myself, I did every thing but the machine work on my Ty so id have a better understanding of how things work. Yes, tunning is a major part of that. Harry and i have spoken and we will hook up soon to have him try to make more power! Im not trying to say Harrys a waste of time at all!! He knows his stuff, Thats why he tunes quick 8 cars for the big boys! But im not totaly worthless in tunning, i think ive shown that here.
I truley hope your truck is faster than mine with Harrys Tunning skills and all those Bad ass MPE parts youve got!! No quit screwing around and get thrown out of that track!!!

BTW friday night i took my Porsche to the track to run my buddys vette with My drag radials on his car . Not only did i woop that ass i got warned again about running on the edge of getting thrown out in that car too. Same Jerk off !!!! heres the vid,

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

frank, you should be racing in open loop not closed loop. :) If your tune is close enough it shouldnt need to do any correcting via the map sensor.

oh yeh, nice job BTW

You mean WB o2 sensor right. Ive been trying to use it in closed loop and logging all the o2 corrections then trimming the fuel as needed When i started it was around -8% now its closer to -2% I can probably go to open loop now ya think? - corection means its still rich if my afr map is set to 11.5 Right? Thanks Mike.

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

you cant tune in closed loop b/c it will constantly be correcting. Keep it in open loop, and datalog it. Get your a/f line where you want it, then you can set your a/f parameters for closed loop which will add/subtract fuel based on weather changes, etc.

We usually leave em in open loop though, so it eliminates the chance of the o2 sensor going out of whack and taking out fuel when in fact it is already lean.

That makes good sense Mike thanks. Ive been changing the fuel map leaner and its still its -o2 correcting about 3% i guess at this point im close enough to run open loop. Im still only at 19* degrees of timing. Its taken me some time to get the 3rd gear lock up right as well. My 10.90 pass was with no lock up using 4th gear OD. After that all my passes were in 3rd gear with lock up and i lost 4 mph in the quarter. I slowly got it back to 126mph by changing the lock up map. Then i got thrown out of the track. Now im stuck to tuning on the street. Sucks Ive been thinking of swaping the 422 cam & valve springs out any ideas???

Re: Drag Radials Going on today!

before you go changing parts work on the tuning.. If you want to go low 10s then just put a solid roller in it, but i think you have easy mid 10s sitting right there with what you got.
