I guess I'm one of those S-10 guys But I'd much rather race with you guys. I don't care for the whole high school, gotta get all up in the chilly for a peek, but don't have the balls to even speak to me thing. And the kinda questions you hear drives me nuts.
Anyway, I guess I'd like special permission to come out on the SYTY day, if its necessary.?. The S should be able to atleast not keep you SYTY guys from having to wait too long for me to finish. If I get lucky I could even offer a little competition to the closer to stock members.?. Anyway let me know if I can get in if the S-Series isn't invited.
Ohh and off topic, has anyone been to the track since the repaved? Thinking about taking the TSi out of its first run tomorrow. I just heard they reworked the whole track yesterday. Which reminds me I gotta go and double check the clutch, Later.

I didn't go to S-series Nats this year, mainly because of the people. There are simply too many, and not enough organization at any of the meets/events I have ever attended. Seems that the Sy/Ty event was WAY better put togethor as well as managed.
Personally the crowd seems a little different as well. I think the price of admission (vehicle pricing) seems to effect that a great deal. Sy/Ty's aren't $4k blazers....They're $10k + trucks, and the value, and care taken permeats the people, as well as thier attitudes.....
I say leave them seperate.

Ok, let's not judge or over speculate about the S10 groups.
1. Yes it was awesome to have the track to ourselves and "our" community. So how do we preserve this?
2. We as owners look out for each other, this was a good thing at the track, can this again be preserved, insured?
3. I personally would like to see a "cooler" time of day, face it guys, a few "hot lappers" found failures, this is part of the game, but heat does kill and trucks will hold up better at cooler times.
4. I like the idea of the S10 guys there with us, having their own separate "non-turbo" lanes etc, let the turbo/supercharger guys run with us. They can even have a V8 S10 lane yada yada yada.
5. I too have concerns as the crowd grows larger that security and respect degrade, so how do we preserve this?
6. Can we get the track guys to do something about the track, I personally pulled the worst 60ft times ever in the right lane, and after talking to the Syclone guys, I was not alone. The left lane was anywhere from .1 to .2 faster depending, sorry I do better at tracks down here I am not accepting the fact that "there is nothing wrong with the track".
7. Sharing with the S10 community does have some pros and cons, PRO, sharing equipment for sale and ideas, CON, larger community, harder to control, is there a way to address this, or do we just stand alone and enjoy "our" community? I think this is the real question.

The track has been redone. It looks very nice now. I guess way over a million was invested. They have had problems with the surrounding community and were in court for more than a year. Now that an agreement has been made they are allowed to maintenance to all existing structures. No new builds allowed. I went last Wed. Awesome!!! Bleachers are still a bit sucky though.
As far as the S-10 guys. I'm one. I don't care for alot for the other S-10 guys as most have a long way to maturity. One way to slim down the field and keep the age group up might be to up the fee. Maybe a higher fee for the S-10 crowd. A later night reservation would certainly cost more anyway. (Atleast that is my thinking as they would stand to turn more regular people away.) If I do get to crash the party please don't keep me from running with you though. I'm hoping to be running in the low 13's high 12's soon and would hate be have to be up against a badass 16.5 78mph S-10...

What would be involved in having the track surface properly prepared for 2004 Nationals instead of 2003 Nationals where the opinion I gathered was that it was quite slippery and unprepared (for me it was some of the slipperiest I've ever raced on)?
I noticed a guy posted the track has been redone, does that include the track surface? Maybe they figured last year since we have AWD we did not need track prep. I would have to disagree and in fact we are at more of a disadvantage since they are no big tire slick cars doing burnouts to lay down fresh rubber on the track, we have mostly only street tires chewing up the sticky compound and scratching it bare.

The concrete where you launch from has been redone. I think the rest of the strip was redone also. But, I haven't been down it since the work has been done. Whoever is organizing should let them know if the group feels like they were handed less than expected. I can see how some who doesn't know better could think that AWD wouldn't need the same prep work. If they were slacking and it is brought to there attention I think they'd do better.
just a little background for the non KC members....I havent been to the track since it was redone, but some background may help.... they have been battling to keep this alive for almost 2 years...legal battles, radio station DJ's fighting for it....Big Big battle. They may have been a little lazy all last year, not knowing if they were going to be allowed to open because of the whiny ass crybaby #$%^&* that buy a house near a dragstrp and then bitch about the noise. I would expect this year to be much much better.....FYI

Well, for what it's worth I would like to run my GT just to do it. I hope that I am not the only one there and others will be just as slow as I am (no, I don't wish everyone to run slow). I know I won't be running anywhere close to SyTy's, I just want to take advantage of the oportunity to get a time slip and a little experience.Double-A said:
Next year I plan to bring the other GT and make a couple respectable passes so the experience would be helpful. I am new to performance building as I have been more concerned with appearance in the past.
Anyway, I don't mind being the slowest truck there, I just wanna do it. Next year everyone can share in my progress. With the track to ourselves I'm sure that we'll all be more comfortable and relaxed throughout the day.
