Doghouse question

How long do admin personnel haze a person with the doghouse dogma? The reason I ask is because I see a lot of bashing directed toward Bill Hardifer. Within the past 3 weeks, I conducted business with him regarding a very nice original set of Sy wheels/tires and a Derale finned tranny pan he sold me. He was super courteous and very prompt to return my phone messages (within a 2 hour time span each time). I'm sure someone had a beef with him before my time but at what point do you put nonsense behind you and restore one to normality around here? Some decent sellers deserve a second chance.....he's A1 in my book regardless.

i dissagree..... as long as people on this forum dont make right the original issue that led to them being put in the doghouse they should remain in the doghouse. just because you had a $100 transaction go fine with the guy doesnt make him a good guy. for all you know he cheated people out of thousands long before you got here.

Re: Doghouse question

I see bill a few times a year usually at naste meets, we usually give him shit about never fixing the problems he had and if someone doesn't pay or screws another member they should hear about it.. for the rest of the time they are associated with the community.

I wish it was a $100 transaction. If you would add another 0, you'd be real close.....anyway, I don't know all the details so I tabeled the question. I highly doubt he cheated anybody here out of much IF anything. If more than one person is duped, then I agree but how do the admins determine who (if anyone) is at fault? I just hate to see someone with so much knowledge regarding SyTy's jerked around for something that transpired years ago (maybe over a decade; just not sure) but I understand your viewpoint as well.

Re: Doghouse question

Its possible that the guy has changed the way he does business, but look at it this way, You go to a restaurant and find rat feces on your plate, do you go back because you hear that the dishwasher got replaced???? I bought some wheels from him, and he lied to me about the shipping, the condition of the wheels, and his reason for selling. The guy bought them from a corvette parts place, never saw them, marked them up, and had them drop shipped to me. He told me he had them on his truck and didnt like them, so he sold them. I got tracking info on 3 boxes and he claimed to have boxed them himself and shipped them out 2 in one box 1 in each of the others....guess what I only got 3 wheels. I dont begrudge the guy making a little cash off the deal...but it took too long to get them shipped in the first place, it took forever to get #4, the condition was not as described, and he refused to respond to my emails. I warned him about the value of a reputation in this community, and he ignored that warning and continued along that path to develop the reputation he has now. I mark it up to him just being a dumb kid, but some lessons just have to be learned the hard way. If anyone asks me..he needs to remain in the DH. If the guy can prove himself to be a worthy seller through multiple transactions, then his rep will overcome the dh listing.

I just want to thank T-Bone for putting his neck on the line for me. I screwed up once in the past and that was about 4yrs ago. I have since sold alot of stuff on here through various friends ( you guys know who u are if u want to chime in) selling it for me. I admit i made one mistake and I actually pretty much just stay off the boards. I have a pretty clean and sick sy that i just keep to myself bc whats the point if people are going to bash u. Alot of guys in NASTE know me and know that im a stand up guy. I aplogize for stuff in the past but understand if people cant forgive and forget.

Lets get Brian Green in here. I think he is still owed money for an ultimate chip.

I wont forget the saudi cat that took well over a month to get shipped after countless emails with no response. I was told in "new" condition arrived in well "used" condition.

If Bill has changed his ways, good for him. I see he finally has admitted it in the post above that he screwed up. Unforetunately, I wont do business again with him.

I'll admit your a stand up guy, hell your even entertaining.. i mean what isn't entertaining about a 6'5" tall dude with a really high pitched voice

eitherway, I like bill have no problems with him, but if he has screwed up transactions with people in the past then others should know about it, that is the purpose of the doghouse to let members of the community know about the people that have screwed others in the past.. it is a small community and we look out for each other.

Re: Doghouse question

Wait I'm confused. Bill Hardifief is not HotrodV6, right? Who's got the avatars going saying HotrodV6 stole my money? Is that Bill in the avatar? or Mike Thibideau (HotrodV6)?

nope, bill was awhile back.. and the avatar's were "pay your bill, bill"

hotrodv6 is the current scammer.

Re: Doghouse question

So the bashing wasn't towards Bill Hardifier as of late, it was Mike Thibideau.

Re: Doghouse question

Correct. But everyone remembers the Pay your Bill, Bill avatar cause it got its point across and was a work of art. There were alot of members sporting it at the time.

How would you go about that in a situation like this? I mean seems like we are years after the fact so sending back the parts isn't an option as they are not in the condition they were sent in.

Just curious how you would right a wrong that happened so long ago.

PS: Peter Humblias is my nominee for the doghouse and he screwed me on a block, and played games with another memeber on a turbo and has quite the bad reputation on turbobuick.com.

People like him and the ones mentioned in this thread is why i hardly ever buy parts site unseen or from people across the country. So many shady sheisty people out there is disgusting.

Well if you sent parts and he stiffed you. i would say pay up

If he sent you parts and over charged you(good block and it was not) i would say pay the diff but you both need to agree on a price.

I work with pissed off people in the automotive field all day maybe you should tell him what would make you happy

And he should ask what to do

but both must be reasonable if say if you payed shipping and the item was shipped sorry it was shipped( this is just my opinion)

But as long as you get somehing back cash parts whatever. you would be ok with this guy correct? even after 2 years just curoius.(that would mean he has turned over a new leaf)

give me a more descriptive scenaro and i will tell you what iw ould want and what i would do

Lets leave out rehashing the block story as it has quite a bit of drama, if anyone wants to read up on it do a search on sytynut.

So you admit that the problems were your fault. Ok good that’s step one.
You say you have changed your ways. Ok good that’s step two.
Now step three: Make every effort to right the wrongs / correct the bad.... even if it hurts.

Ok so it's been years (or what ever), people move, move on to other things, die and just drop off the face of the earth for whatever reason but too be ok in my book you gotta make the 110%, above and beyond the call of duty effort and if that involves, searching to find the person, apology e-mails and or refunds years later etc. then so be it. If there was enough general consensus info that you did bad then (ended up in one of these type threads, doghouse etc.), it's because you did it. Wanna make it right? Then create enough general consensus info to show that you deserve that second chance because you made good and really have changed.

Can't (money), don't want too or just don't care to put forth the effort equal to the pain, dollars or general BS you caused to the others (I mean damn, these truck are bad enough by them selves)? Then like you said, " I actually pretty much just stay off the boards" and if you never clear your name don't be upset " if people are going to bash u". You may be a great guy who made some mistakes and bad calls. Ok we are human and all go astray I understand that. I and I think most others would be happy to give you a second chance... all you gotta do is make the effort to right the wrongs and prove you deserve the second chance. Is it worth it too you?

PS: My grandfather taught me that "To err is human and we all make mistakes. That is understandable and expected.... up to a point, but the difference between a man and an undesirable is how the mistake is handled once brought to your attention. You right your wrongs even if it hurts!"

Re: Doghouse question

James, I always enjoy reading your threads. Seems you find a way to think things through from every angle and you all are right....if I got the short end of the stick (and I have even from a couple SyTy forum members), I would want the issue rectified no matter how long it took. I was impressed with the way Bill handled our transaction and I am not too easy to please :) but with that said, the past issue(s) he had with someone else should be redeemed and then I vote for restoration

I agree T-Bone. I'm willing to give any fella a second chance.... if he deserves it (unless we are talking hyenas crimes or drug manufacturing..... death sentence for that!) .
