Doesn't anybody keep rear air shocks????

I am looking for good candidates for rear air shocks.. Seems like nobody has recommendations for good replacements to keep the air jobbies.. My Ty is a (fun) work truck-the air system works fine, so I want to keep it that way..I figure there's probably something better than ordering some from NAPA.... Thanks

I like the stockers cus they allow flexibility in load. Have used gabriel listed for a blazer in place and they seemed to work equal. They do fit tight in there. The air lines can be made to work too.

I just installed gabriel hijackers on mine, I ran the new air lines that they came with my ride is a lot better than with the bilstiens it had on it, original owner said dealer removed air shocks becouse they were having problems. Cant get the original pump to work yet, it looks like if you have a working pump it could work with these shocks.

I use the gabriel hi-jackers with the original pump unit. Had to relocate the link mount on the pumkin for it to work correctly with rear lowered. But it does work nicely.

Re: Doesn't anybody keep rear air shocks????

After driving with hijackers for a few days I can't belive the difference, I had good bilsteins before but the air shocks dramatically changed the handling for the better.
I feel bad for anyone who changed the air shocks for standard shocks hoping for better performance, the handling sucks! Ty's stock leafs are way to soft for anything different.
with all the shocks removed I could step on the bumper and bounce it a little and bottom on the bumps stops.

And turbodog what does the stock pump put out? psi.
I have been running 35-40 psi and the ride is great.

Thanks guys, I bought Monroe MA759 yesterday on ebay. This latest post makes me confidant I'll like them fine..Didn't seem to be much favoritism towards any one kind.. Unless somebody says the Monroes are junk, I'll put them $20 jobbies on...

I have belltechs leafs in the back so the air shocks are useless, the compressor fights the springs

Gotta readjust/modify the leveling mechanism. You can make it work, just takes a bit more doing.

the shocks were bottomed out with zero air in them plus the ass end flet "floaty" its much better now hopefully the rear sway will help too

I've never taken the suspension much above 50 psi, but the stock pump does that just fine.

I can see where you would have a problem with the Belltech springs. I am running re-arched stock springs plus a 2" drop blocks. Using drop blocks doesn't shorten the shock stroke length, so my shocks aren't bottomed out.

Re: Doesn't anybody keep rear air shocks????

I just ran across this thread and had a question. Does the Typhoon use the same shock as a standard GMC/Chevy? A prior posting mentions a MA759 Monroe which is a standard S10 part. I found the Gabriel air shock on Ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Air-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories ) and was wondering if this is the correct part to use.It does mention lowered trucks require measuring to get correct part. thanks, Mike

Re: Doesn't anybody keep rear air shocks????

According to the ebay ad, that shock is for pickups, not the Blazer/Jimmy SUV.
Looks like ebay item 380182781276 would fit a Typhoon, depending on if and how it is lowered.
A stock shock will work if the truck is lowered via lowering blocks. Not if it is lowered with springs.

I have been using the same Monroe air shocks for years. They have been great.

Duh, your right. I had the right idea wrong auction. I'm going to check to see if my compressor etc works. I see under the cover a relay unplugged or something. I'll look further into it.
