I don't know why, but yesterday I decided to drive the GN - first time in months.

My normal daily-driver is a TDI Beetle. I sorta doubt that Beetle would have protected me like the GN did.

I've actually read good things on the safety of those bugs. They are surprisingly safe on impacts due to the dome shape. If it were up to me, I would still feel safer in the big Regal....but I would rather crash the Beetle

As a fellow Grand National and Syclone owner, I'm glad your OK and I agree with a previous post....Good thing the ditch was not filled with water!
Have you thought about buying it back and putting the driveline in something else? Like a Vega, Chevette, Rx-7, etc.....
