Differential Size?

What is the differential size? Is our unit the 10 bolt 8.2/8.5 or the 7.5 variety? Thanks.

7 5/8ths actually.. Find em in SyTys, some f bodies, and bravadas.. I dunno if the standard 7 1/2 stuff will interchange. Never tried. 10 bolt is already weak enough so I figured the extra 1/8th inch would help a little to have it.

I have an '89 Jimmy 4x4. I wanna swap out the rear end with a 96-99 F-body to gain rear discs and posi traction. Can I do the front also (gears only) to gain front posi?

you dont want posi on the front...

it will make it difficult to steer...

the fbody rear... will need to narrowed and the brackets all swapped for it to work in your truck...

Just get the rear end and the abs box out of a 96 and newer s-series 4 wheel disc and posi and best of all its bolt in ken

I plan on keeping my gearbox 4x4 not AWD so I was hoping for posi front for snow purposes. I always have it in rear wheel only when I race rice. The '96 + have posi, not limited slip? Cool, cuz then I get a sway bar also! But what is the gearing? I want lots of low end torque which I will loose when I finally get tires for my 18's. Top speed means nothing to me, it's all about 0 to 60. After that I don't care cuz there's always a red light anyway and I hate the free way road raging ass holes so I don't test them at all!
