Did the new $code get showed off at nats ?

New Parts for Old Trucks
In the back and forth of the events that took place , I've yet to see a post about someone who saw the new setup . Did any of the trucks running the new code make a pass . Was a showing made ? Any "how-to's" or "check this out" demonstrations ??

Re: Did the new $code get showed off at nats ?

I had it up for a bit sat. night. Problem is by that time most were feeling good with beverages, or didn't really know what I was talking about.

Jimmy's and Hardman's ty both had $59 in it.

I know Hardman's ty which has stock convertor and 52 couldn't come out of hole for anything, yet still managed to run 107mph out the back end on 15psi boost, safe tune. He was happy with that so once his 80e goes in we will be set.

Re: Did the new $code get showed off at nats ?

Ive been running $59 for at least a month now. I have my Zeitronix WB in the factory downpipe, and the wire running through y doorjamb. As far as performance- I havent really been aiming for that. I have been trying to get better mileage. So far I am having a hard time breaking 15 mpg consistenly, in and around town. I am driving with a light foot, keeping out of boost. I have checked tire pressures, run synthetic oil and synth. gear lube in the axles. I have been running as lean as 16:1 AFR, and Ive got timing as high as 34 degrees at roughly 1600/60kpa (not running these AFR's and timing at any other times/loads). I have not checked it on a highway trip yet.

As for $59, I would not be able to command these AFR's without it, and run closed loop. I am currently working on a bin to run open loop because my 3-bar MAP is just a loaner, and I may want to keep $59 going when I give back the MAP. I think pretty soon I may go back to $58 and give it a try open loop and see what I get. The 3 bar tables are great, its nice to use just one table for fuel tuning. I havent had any hiccups in the software. I did have an IAC issue where it was commanding 100+ IAC counts under cruise. It was like my truck was pushing against my braking efforts. I have that pretty under control now- and its a bin issue not a $59 thing.

The autotune software is totally cool. It has never been easier to get a VE table dialed in. Just make sure its within reason to start, then drive and log. Plug in the numbers and your tune will be very close withing 2 logs. I have autotuned roughly 6 or 7 times. Each time my new suggested VE table is only fractions of my current table- showing me that my bin is prtty good. Until I changed my timing tables last week, I was between 126 and 130 BLMs almost everywhere.

Zach Mann was running it, and won modified. His truck has a lot more in it.

It sounds like its almost/probably ready . Are you able to input info from a current bin to the new code+bin , or does everyone start from square one with this ?

Re: Did the new $code get showed off at nats ?

We have a copy program that will copy your $58 3 BAR bin into the code59 bin. We have run into a small closed throttle bug and trying to reproduce it so we can fix it. (BLMs stay locked at 128). I think it is a calibration issue that was in the original bin that got cal copied into $59.

So on that note with the CAL Copy program.. Garbage in/Garbage out. Your inital $59 bin will only be as good as the bin you copied into it until you get some tuning on it. So if there was a problem in your $58 3 Bar Cal, it will get copied into your $59 Cal. You just need to be away of that. We are still trying to decide if we want to release the CalCopy porgram because of this. We might have enough base bins for different injectors posted as a starting place so we may not need it. Overall 90% of $59 is still $58 and so a lot of the same $58 rules apply towards tuning. Just new tables have been added for improved tuning/boost control.

I have been running it for 4 months without a hitch. Once we find this small bug, I think the group will think it is ready.. so patience.. it is close.

Wow , you guys really covered everything . I'm not ready for it yet without my tranny installed anyway, so I dont mean to seem like I'm itchin for a fix . I know in due time it and my truck will be ready to meet each other .

I went 12.6 @ 106 with it on 15lbs of boost,no methanol.

No I went much faster on 20 psi and race gas before, this was just 92 octane and nothing else.

Should run high 11's all day once I get the meth dialed in.

We still have a minor issue with one of the block learn cells in WB-closed loop. It may have had something to do with that.

Also, Jeff tuned that sucker for lean-running gas-saver mode, and it's possible that the slight difference in altitude changed the requirements.

We're still working on getting a public beta release version fully ready... this involves a fair amount of documentation, as well as code, before we can turn the wild world loose on it.

After spending the weekend looking at DFIs and FASTs, the parallels are striking. The $59 VE and AFR table works the same way, but it has more resolution than the FAST.

Later,
