Deep trans pan...

I need opinions and part #s on a 2 extra quart, deep trans pan that will clear "phils" prop shaft loops. I want a pan that has a drain plug on it.

Will the Derale pan work or is the GM pan the best to go with? Or any others?

The Summit pan seems to work good. Haven't checked for clearance w Phils' Prop loop, but I don't see why there would be any problem there because it doesn't stick out sideways any more - just down.

However, I can check it for U, as I need to know also. I've been down so long, I can't remember how the loop goes on. Do U have a pic of how it goes on so I can check 4 fit ?

Yes, the Summit pan has a drain plug and it also has an extension tube to put the filter down to the new lower pan bottom. Whatever U do, don't get the PML pan - I covered that nightmare in an earlier post.

Lynn, no I don't have a pic. But it's 2 pieced. There is a bracket shaped like ] that appears to bolt directly to the cross-member and the loop bolts to the brace. I'll probably bolt it up tomorrow. I'll take some pics when I get up under there again.

I have the Summit SME-1008R. It uses the filter tube extension, rather than supporting the filter up at the stock height. One thing this does is keep the filter submerged better if the ATF does slosh around some. It doesn't require grinding the pan or converter cover, unlike some other pans. I'm trying to remember how everything fits under there, but it basically just extends lower from the trans. I don't think it would interfere with a propshaft loop at all.
