Preface, I haven't looked at your logs. My tuning laptop is getting old in the tooth and isn't working very well on the internet anymore.

It isn't unheard of the boost to drop down that low with the stock waste gate & actuator. If the ECM is trying lower the boost while the engine is shifting into 3rd, the boost can sometimes drop drastically. A forged waste gate would help your truck run faster, because it doesn't vary as much as the stock boost control. Your average boost would be more.

I am not sure what your goal is for your truck, is to run perfect as is or to eventually modify it? Once you getting running smoothly according to scan tool you probably want to ween your truck of off high octane mix. if its running 100% it should run cleanly on a scan tool with the stock chip and 93 octane.

Your voltage is still sagging a bit, but is much better. I'd still suggest the ECM power mod, or the injector harness mod that I do.

Do you have a link or more info on the power mod and the harness mod? My search skills are sucky...

I searched ecm mod and ecm power mod. I did find a real good post from member alwayscoded390? If I remember.. Correctly. His post/thread had pics. I still am not sure what the mod is a upgrade fuse or direct line right off back of alternator? When I read the description of mod . sounded like a racetronix type mod. I'm still unsure my self.

Dgoodhue, I plan to keep the truck basically stock. Aside from the KB fpr/intake and borla pipe.

One thing I noticed all the sudden was the truck has a real low idle, and dies out occasionally which is a pain in the ass. Is there a adjustment? Something to look for. IAC related? How about moving the TPS sensor? Isn't it slotted? Do I need to adjust timing a tad??

The way I like to do this is in the engine compartment. The injectors are what cause the high-current-draw condition in the ECM, so my thought is take that load completely out of the ECM, and let the original ECM +12V feed just power the ECM board.


Near the FPR at the back of the intake manifold is the three-wire injector harness connector. The pink/black-stripe wire is the power feed to the injectors, via the ECM.

I cut this wire and take the side from the ECM and use it to trip a waterproof relay. The end of that same pink/black stripe wire, that goes to the injectors, is fed via the relay.

The really nice thing about doing this mod at this location is that the +12V power is right there at the firewall to draw good power from. There is also a good factory ground at that location as well. Takes about 10 minutes to do and you don't have to fight with modifying the ECM harnesses and taking the ECM in and out.

My voltages went from 12.9, up to a constant 13.7 via this mod.

Does that mean the relay is flicking on and off at the same speed as the injectors? Or just when the power is on? I'd be worried about the relay failing if it cycles too much.

.8v isn't to be sniffed at though!

No, it's just a constant 12V feed. I'd have to pull the ECM schematics again to recall the details, but the injector pulsing is done via the return leg of the circuit.

Sean Krupa had a low voltage problem and we applied the same mod to his Ty...brought his up to a solid 13.8 to 13.9.

OK so I thought my truck was fast/quick. I guess it isn't as quick as I thought.

Had another good line up with a 2011~ish camaro. Had the dual pipes out the back, nothing really out if the ordinary. Appeared to be stock. De badged. Could not identify if it was a SS or a RS, as he was in front of me. Pulled to a light. I jumped up to the line to trigger the light. He hung back. I didn't Leave hard but he decided to get Into it. I once again mashed the throttle down and had a couple pops. So we approached another light. I was going to say something to him but I figured let's not go there. I decided to leave pretty hard on the next light and show him what's up. Too bad my truck popped off again like chitty chitty bang bang and I got my ass handed to me.

Just laughed all the way home... from the same exact stop light. Funniest thing happened. I saw a camaro approaching the same red light as yesterday except this one was easy to identify. Looked like a 99 camaro SS Black/Red. Was pretty sweet. Had quad pipes out the rear, sounded pretty good? probably some type of exhaust system. Of course I wanted to say something to the guy becasue it was pure deje vue. But I didnt. Waited for the light to change and when it did I left that guy in the rear few a few lengths. I didnt bring the truck into boost or anything I was just OUT. He decided to floor it and try to catch me. All I saw in my back was SMOKE from him. I dont know if he blew a cylinder or blew the rings out of his car but the thing was smoking hell blue out the back. The sad part is the road bottle necks down to one lane. I was completely ahead of the guy and he pratically ran me right off the road ( or a curb which came first... No thanks ) He ripped by me and all 4 pipes were smoking out his back. I really had the lead here but it was a very wise decision to slow my roll.

I said something to him like I had a similar thing just like this happen yesterday at the same spot with a newer camaro... he kind of chuckled.. oh haha.. I said what up with all the smoke? you blow the thing the **** up? he looked at me real funny. And I finished off asking him OH, is this a LS motor and he noded his head. That was it. :tup:

Back to the low power condition, I am thinking this could have been related to the main power wire off back Of alternator. The connection gave out on me early this week and left me stranded. There were no real indicators of a failure. Just stopped dead in its tracks. I fixed the issue and wondering if my voltage is steady under load or drops still. Going to try and have to pull another log and see.

Still wondering about the setup of the ECM mod. I located the wire and all but what do I need a relay ?

2. Intake temps are mighty high.... 169 degrees is just too damn hot. Check to see if your IC pump is working....coolant circulation should be pretty strong. Do the hot wire mod to keep the pump running all the time.

So I just dug out the stuff to run a log once again. I notice it was picked out before about my intake temps being high, 169*... I just ran a log and saw nothing over 100*-101*. The thing that got my attention was the fact that the engine temp. was no less than 178* and as high as 188*. To add its only 49* here Outside Temps. I ran truck in summer and seen lower.

I am wondering if my water pump is starting to die? I have a new serpentine belt on and it looks like there is some type of wear/stress on the belt which is unusual. I thought my alternator bearing was going as the truck makes a nasty vibration noise during idle, I am starting to think the bearing in water pump could be seizing up. I almost started chasing the intake system but realized its the engine temp that is HIGH.

Also I did attempt to make a trans cable adjustment because it felt laggy and like it was about to go.. I almost got the adjustment wrong but figured it out too. Truck feels different with cable adjustment.
