datamaster or tunerpro

what is better for datalogging? i ordered a philip long chip that has different fuel trims.
i plan on buying a wide band asap.

so which is easier/better to use?

i was planning on using tunerpro so when $59 comes completly out i already know how to use the software but i already have the datamaster software and cable from my last truck.


any input?

datamaster is typically considered better for datalogging but cannot technically tune with it, while tunerpro has the ability to tune. if youre going #59, you will need some type of tuner like tunerpro but there are more options out there.

yes i know i need tunerpro for 59.....but i dont plan on using that yet, well at least until its readily available.......i dont know if i would be better off with tunerpro so i learn it or just keep the datamaster with dig's patch and do basic tuning with phils chip

I know there is a datamaster crowd on this board, but I learned on TP and find it easier to just use it for everything. No swapping back and forth between programs, and the datatracing tells you exactly where in the bin you are (when reviewing a log) so you know where to make changes. It doesnt get much easier than that.

For datalogging either is perfectly acceptable. It's all the same data, just how you prefer to look at it. Perhaps you might give ScannerPro a try as well. It's a free download, and the config files are on NWSTP.com for the Sy/Ty application.

I can't remember the last time I JUST logged a truck, and didn't edit the bin afterwards, so obviously I'm voting for TunerPro.

I generally use DM if I'm looking for problems with a given tune, or if I'm just taking data at the track.

I use tunerpro when I'm actively tuning something.

The tunerpro data interface can be a bit tough to read, IMO. DM lets you see the whole set of data at the same time.

Some software-type-guy needs to write an app to convert Tunerpro files to DM, and vice versa...

Use what you are comfortable with.

When/if you go code59 Tunerpro is required if you plan to do any tuning at all. The other scan tools will scan but that is it and won't spit out all the data that tunerpro will.

Sure. I have some of the details worked out as well.

I also have an old DOS program that Ron Gregory wrote that reads/writes to Diacom files.
It's in C.

so dig i just download the bin patcher from your site and them pick which wideband i have and download that patch as well?

I found a program that will display TunerPro exports in a similar manner that DM does, only not near as nice. It requires a slight mod to the TP export excel file. I've included the macro that I use in the zip. Looks like the author stopped developement.
