Dash swap?

Has anybody had experience with swapping in a newer dash, from a 96+ truck? I saw an early 90's S10 on ebay awhile ago with the interior from a newer truck and an LS6 powerplant... I think our dash's look pretty outdated and would like to get some better style inside... By dash, I dont mean just the instrument cluster, I mean the whole dashboard...
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Dash swap?

I would love to replace the stock gauge panel with something custom that would include Autometer guages so that I don't have to stick extra gauges all over the truck in other spots. I have emailed a couple of custom and premade gauge panel makers about coming up with something for these trucks, but the responses were all negative. I'm still looking though. A set of Ultra Lite gauges in a carbon fiber panel would look perfect in my opinion.

Do you know which newer style truck dash the guy on ebay used?

Re: Dash swap?

I'd say just buy a newer dash and put it in. I saw that truck, and it looked pretty OEM! I'm sure there are some bracketing issues, and what not, but just get one from the junkyard and see what the deal is with it. I bet it isn't too bad. If either of you want to get rid of your guage clusters, let me know, I need one for a project I'm working on.
