Dash speakers

Talk about a pain in the wazzu! I figured out today that there are not many aftermarket 4x6 speakers that are made to fit in the dash Sy's. I picked up some Pioneer TS-G4641R's at Best Buy today on sale and open box for 30 bucks. Couldn't beat the price. But I couldn't help but notice that any aftermarket speaker with a larger diameter magnet is hard to fit past the corner of the gauge cluster. It just catches it enough to make you worry that you might snap some plastic by pushing on it too hard. But I pushed just hard enough to get it to snap in place and not break anything. Sound much nicer than the stock ones that didn't work when I bought it.

Those are actually one of the VERY few that will fit at all. Most of the newer 4x6 speakers are designed for "euro" fitment or have ridiculously large magnets or have tweeters that stick up too high. I've tried Infinity, JL Audio, Alpine, Memphis.....none fit because of any or all of the above reasons.

I actually just put a pair of the Pioneers up in my dash, (faded off of them quite a bit though) just to raise the sound up a little bit. The speakers in my doors sound good, but the stage is around my knees. :tdown:
