Hey guys,
New to the board. Currently drive a 02 f150 harley truck. My wife will start driving my truck to work 1 mile drive and i will buy something i can fart around in and put some miles on. I know i should buy a civic or something, but i get bored really fast! i need something to fart around in and have some fun.I have owned a GN few years back and i can say even though she caused me problems every now and then, i had no problems driving it daily. Now its time to buy something cash again and i've been looking for GN's again until a white TY caught my eye the other day. I know a little about them, but what can i expect from buying a higher mile TY? I know its a jimmy, like a GN is a regal. So what gas mileage can i expect from a stock/mild bolt on TY, issues i should be worried about besides the obvious, tranny, AWD,pistons. Will i enjoy driving one daily? ive driven jimmys and blazers before but never a TY. Sorry for the long post.

I would have a local guy from this board check it out.Where are you located?

If you like beating every car on the road between the stoplights, and enjoy being invisible to the police, and don't mind working on it all the time,it's the right vehicle for you.

TYRODD

EXACTLY!

Also, dont be too cool to cry over a car, 'cause you'll be doing it alot with one of these.

Thats only true when none of the cops know anything about cars. My town, every single one of the cops we have know my truck and who drives it. All of the K-9 cops for the county know it as well.

Re: Daily Driver?

i drive mine daily. i've had issues every now and then but i wouldnt really trade it for anything. mileage kinda blows but, hey, thats not what these are about anyway right?

the only thing i dont like about driving mine every day is putting all those miles on such a rare vehicle. other than that, s'all good.

Re: Daily Driver?

I got 18mph in the city in mine last week.

Now thats never hitting boost driving around, and pushing it into OD as soon as I'm above 45mph. Watching the WB to make sure it never goes rich to like 13.0 or so. :D

This week I'm getting about 12.

Re: Daily Driver?

The only problem with a ty being a DD is that when something goes wrong(which it will) it'll sometimes take a while to figure out what it is, which leaves you on the curb for a couple days.

Of course if you got experience with the turbo buick, you should have a little more insight to these trucks than the average "I just bought it because it hauls a$$" crowd... aka: people like me.

Re: Daily Driver?

I been DD mine since Nov. So far it's the milage adding up that I don't like, over 12K. The above posts are accurate, fun to drive factor is great. Keep an eye on how the is running. Change all fluids and do a complete tune up once you buy it. Good luck!
