Custom Throttle Body Plates (Potential GP)

In the previous thread I said I was working on this. I would like to be able to do this for you guys, but my time is very limited. I'll try to post some pics of projects I've done, and some I'm working on.
I don't want to step on anyones toes, but I will be doing these in the near future. If only for my own trucks.
My time is extremely limited, so if you need these right now, I'm not sure I can get machine time to do more than a few in the next week or two. :(
As for price, I'll be reasonable. :D
Below is a link to some pics (hope it works)

I think its gonna be tight!

Yeah, except those stupid crosses in the center

I'd be in

Also, what CAD program are you using? If it is AutoCAD, could you send me the drawing of just the plate without any writing? Are you doing this in 2D or 3D?

The crosses are just geometry points that I used to reference for location. They won't be on the plate. (I forgot to turn off that layer  ) I'm working with Mastercam. These are just 2D. What format would you like the file in? DWG, IGS, DXF?

If anybody wants to send me a cad file I can take a look at running a cutterpath on it. I can convert Autocad, UG, Catia, SDRC, solids, just about any cad-cam format.

MICH TY: When can I order a Typhoon throttle plate? I am not trying to rush anyone, they just look awesome. Also, are you making the Typhoon center covers for the rims? If so, how much for a set? Those are sweet too. Thanks...

What# do you need on the t/b plate?

As for the centercaps, i've only made 1 set so far. I'm still fine tuning the programs. When I charted out an original cap, I didnt get the radius on the face quite right. I'll recut them, and see how they look. I want to get them right before I try to sell any.

Re: Custom Throttle Body Plates

Any reason we couldn't LOSE the two center bolt holes ??

Any reason we couldn't have them in Stainless steel to avoid the aluminum clouding, scratching, oxidizing, dulling???

Just my 2 cents here........I like things to be "maintenance free" where possible.

I am going to try stainless for a t/b plate. I already have a piece of stock, but I think I'll have to get some different cutters for the engraving.Stainless is MUCH more dificult to machine than aluminum. Stainless is also more expensive than aluninum. I'd probably have to get about $60.00 a piece for a brushed stainless plate.
If I have time, and can get cutters, I'll try one in stainless this week.

As for the two center holes, I'd be afraid to leave them out. If you want I can make you one leaving them out. We could always put them in later if you decide they are necessary.

Yeah, I know. I'm just a smart @$$. All of my Autocad files are .dwg, so can you send it in that format? Thanks. Send one with the Syclone logo, and can you have a layer with the intercooled as well? What font is that?

This area cover by the plate is under vacuum/boost, removing bolts is probably not the best idea. You might be able to get away with it, but why risk it for minor asthetics. It may be a better idea for motor not running boost (F-bodies/Corvette) using this Throttle body.

Re: Custom Throttle Body Plates (Potential GP)

in looking at the cad, i see 2 issues:
1."typhoon" looks like it runs downhill by a degree or two.
2. the top center bolt hole looks like it is even with the other top two bolt holes. Have you installed one of these to make sure it fits? The center hole should be like 1 mm lower than the others.

True Dave, true. I was thinking the SS would be more ridgid than Aluminum by some margin.......but that still won't address the two threaded holes left in the throttle house.
I guess I could be a Ghenea pig with it ? Maybe use a good sealer with it too. Whats 60$ to 50$ anyway ? Not much and worth it to me.

Yeah, my first thought was warping under boost.

Good eye Mr. Renz. I have corrected both of those problems.

I was thinking $48.00 including shipping for polished, 40.00 for brushed finish.
About the custom design...I would have to look at it to make sure I could do a cutter path on it. If you sent me a geometry file, and I can run a cutter path on it there would be no extra charge.

Thanks..STEVE
