Crossed sparkplug wires

I think I have crossed a couple wires while putting new wires in, what happens exactly when you do this, right now it is bogging for a second when I put the throttle down and then takes off. It is also switching gears at about 4300. On a stock chip what do they switch gears at and what should it be idling at? Thanks for your help in advance! Also is there something that make the wires not cross, I have seen little plastic things on imports but is there anything for typhoons or syclones?

A description of crossed wires might be in need here.

Crossed wires - the act of putting a plug wire on the wrong distributor cap terminal. This will cause the truck to backfire and idle uncontrollably.

What you are describing is wire seperators. You can put 'em on - won't hurt - might help. You can get them at any local parts store. Also, make sure when you are putting new plugs wires in to use the factory harness - helps keep things off manifolds.
