Re: cross counts
T1 is the lowest timing on the chip. Knock in the 3-4 range is average and I wouldn't worry to much about that if your just daily driving it. If it's much more with only 93 I'd be concerned. Start checking your IC function and doing a good tune up using good plugs with a .032-.035 gap. Good wires will help also. A 160* thermostat can have good effects lowering knock as well. Make sure your coolant is up to par and 50/50 mix.
Exactly!
Tune up with quality plugs (I used NGK UR5) and brass cap/rotor, thermostat swap, IC pump check
and hot wire it.
I just installed a 180 thermostat (160 is fine, too!).
My truck still had what appeared to be the 195 original and it was dying, I believe; running 200-204 consistently. After 180 swap? 180-184 like clockwork.
My IC pump was inop. So I swapped in a new Johnson, hot-wired it and the Intake Air Temps are excellent now.
I saw 100-120 on the highway. And 80-90 in town!
Now I'm at 0.0 knock at WOT, pulling VERY clean and strong on 93 pump.
I'm stock other than a K&N cone on the stock cross-over, though.
