Crazy knock...help!

Hi, i finally got the datamaster working and the 1st run i did i dont remember any knock retard but while tryin to save it i lost the info.
So now after doing the IC hoses and rearenging the vacuum lines to what some diagram i found here said, the knock retard started sky rocketing as soon as i open the throttle, i have no idea what could be causing this as i was using 93 oct and straight rubbing alcohol and a mild t1 15lbs.
I have a faulty fan clutch that never stops the fan from spining, i just had the side panel removed for remote mirrors that could have made the chip lose, i redid some vacuum lines, changed the IC lines and pump, any ideas if any of these could be making the knock sensor retard so badly? Thanks.

Rev at idle while in park. if it shows knock its false. Possible the chip could have come loose. Over spraying could cause it to knock too.

Yes it does jump while i rev it on park, cause it does feel strong when its boosting but then the knock makes it slow and it never reaches full boost. Would a faulty fan clutch do the false knock signal? Thanks.

i dont think the clutch would. But you never know with these trucks. sounds like false knock to me. I would check the seating on the chip. look and listen around the engine for anything lose.

i had the same problem, look for a cracked hose to the turbo solenoid or a bad turbo solenoid. i had the hose severed by the ac pump. i would full throttle, then it would buckle, pop and miss. and all it was was a vacuum hose that was severed buy the ac pulley. the factory hose has a 90 degree bend but all you have to do is relocate the solenoid and use some new silicone hose. good luck

Thanks, i will look for loose stuff and at the AC pulley. I remember i saw the hose had burn marks from pulley bein too close.
I have a cel phone pic i took from the graph i could send anyone willing to take a look, still dont know how to import the DM graphs but if anyone tells me how i could send it and see if its of any help.

The burn marks by the upper radiator hose is cause by the alternator hitting it. It is happening because you need new motor mounts.

Re: Crazy knock...help!

Ok i redid my vacuum hoses to what the sticker says it should, got the upper IC correctly atached to both attachment brakets (i had left it with just one and thought the one that was left out would vibrate against something and cause the knock), went over the selenoid hose and it isnt, i doubt it will be the selenoid cause i got pretty solid wastegate actuation, throttled the engine manually and the motor mounts wouldnt give and still have the same knock right around 10% tps.
What i did notice is a damn injector that makes some really loud clicking noise that worstens as i open the throttle and apears to sound by the distributor too, placed my hand on it and you can actually feel the ticking. Also tried listening under the truck for any transmission converter related noises but all i could hear was the damn clicking even louder than in the engine compartment. I also got a faulty starter selenoid, sometimes it cranks the 1st time sometimes the 5th but it always cranks.
Any sugestions what i should do? Thanks.

Re: Crazy knock...help!

Ok i discovered what was causin those big knock counts and KRs on my truck, it was the Ultimate chip, i changed my stock chip and 2 bar map and it wouldnt KR o KC at all. Tried rehooking them and reseting the comp a few times but it wouldnt help gettin rid of the problem. With the stock chip and map sensor it would only knock in 2nd gear but it was because the gas filter is gettin clogged and wont flow enough fuel so quick. Is there a way i can have the Ultimate reprogramed? Thanks.

Which is causing your knock if the motor mount is broken (driver side).
