Crazy Check engine light???

when the truck is in Drive and I floor the throttle I get a check engine light and there is a loss of power around 80 MPH as if there was a misfire or a loss of fuel(even like a limiter) The light stays on for like 10 seconds and goes away and truck keeps running normal. After this happens it keeps pulling past 80.

However, If I floor it in overdrive everything is normal, trucks pulls pretty hard and no check engine light at any point.

I have no idea what the problem maybe as I have not heard of this ever happening to anyone. Maybe you guys have come across this. Dont want to be running the truck if maybe there is a lean condition happenning. Also dont understand why it only happens in Drive and not OD.

Any Ideas?????

I can't help you with your problem because I'm also having the problem, but a lower speeds. I was gonna check all my spark plugs to see if the are in tight and then check the fuel injectors, other than that I have no idea what to do either. JOHNBE

My ass. Look at it.
I think you guys are overboosting, pull the code from your ECM and make sure. DO NOT continue to hammer your trucks, you will be spitting rods in no time if you do. Your engine will shut down your injector pulse if your boost pressure excedes 14.7 psi(stock trucks).

Do you all have your cats removed? Check your vaccum lines at the boost solenoid and turbo, as well as all the others.

No, you need to fix the problem first...it will only blow up sooner if you dont. You now know you are OBing since the guage is telling you so.

Try searching "overboost", there are TONS of threads regarding this, I would also do a lot of researching as far as tune ups and maintainance on these trucks, they can give you a lot of problems if the little things are not remedied. adding a chip when the truck is not running properly is just asking for trouble.
