crate sy engine

I've searched the forums and found nothing about crate sy engines. Now by this time I'd imagine that all extra engines made by GM have been sold, but does anyone know how much a completely stock syclone engine cost from the factory? Damn warranty work...TIA

This was covered a while back with no deffinate answer IMO. It seems that if you have "connections" there is a slim chance of getting a correct syty engine. If not there seemed to be little/no chance of getting the correct syty engine from GM.

That's mine opinion too. I think that it would be hard, if at all, to find a "true" SyTy crate engine now from GM. Especially since they were low production and we we're the only one's that used the low compression hyperUcraptic pistons and beefed upped mains.
I know you said something about warranty work, so I really don't know what to tell you. I have a feeling that if it is done by a GM dealer you will get a regular 4.3. But, since you have a warranty and if GM or whoever the warranty is with, cannot provide you with a true SyTy engine I think they should have to fit the bill for anything that you have done built to the specs of a SyTy engine. Might be a pain in the a** to get that but if you have a warranty (well you paid extra for that) so you should get an engine that is equal to the original, maybe even a little better :) .

I'm not sure the difference, but they gave me 2 part numbers and 2 prices. My guess- supply/demand? I don't know why there is a difference, just relaying what I was told at the parts counter.

I know an ugly chick that works at a GMC/Pontiac dealership. She says shes got the hookup on parts, so I'll have her re-check the prices of 4.3 engines.

I went through this about about a year and half ago. Had a warranty, aftermarket, and needed a new motor. Well no more new motors for the sy/ty application were available. This wasn't a definate no at the begining, the had the part number for it ,ordered it and it never showed, reordered still no show. I called GM filnally after several calls got ahold of someone with some knowledge of what were sy/ty specific engines. I was flat out told there were no motors left period. They were to have new replacements made by an independent motor manufacturer because of the small run. I was told they were testing the motors provided for them and would be released soon. I was put on the "list" to get one. Well waited like three more months, called said they made a few and they were taken, and no more were to be made. After waiting so long called warranty company back, right away they had no problem with a rebuilt one to stock specs. So that is what I have now and no problems to this day, besides transmissions, GM replacements, but that is another story in it's self.

My local GMC dealer in Fayetteville, NC had a Sy/Ty crate motor a while back in stock. They quoted me a price of $4000.00. I didn`t need a engine but just wanted to see if the parts were still avail.
