It should work now. I had a PSU failure in my router last night. The site was down for a couple of hours. Sorry about this...

Nice page... do you have a part number for that ford fan?

I am interested in changing my setup again... I am wondering what the number is for that fan?

Thanks.

Nick,

I don't know the part number, but here ya go:

I bought the exact same fan...

vorte@work?

The thermostat is drilled out, so it's leaking even when closed. You can buy it from Stewart for $9...

Later,

sorry ya lost me
you're not refering to the thermostat in the lower intake, but to one that was in the water pump ?

or is this what is called a "piddle valve" in a normal thermostat and if so why does the stewart pump require it ?

thanks

Ok. I'm referring to the thermostat in the lower intake. A picture from Stewart's site:

I'm not 100% sure why it's drilled out. It's only required with some of the WP's. Maybe they want to lower the pressure while the thermostat is closed...

i believe this is the same as my "piddle valve"

what that does is allow the rest of the cooling system to warm up a bit to avoid the thermo shock of 160 deg water suddenly going through the 1st part of the system especially in winter

It also helps to release air pockets trapped under the thermostat

I've always drilled at least 2 holes 1/8" in the "plug" portion

another thought

160 thermostats crack open at about 125 deg an are fully open at 160

these things are motivated by a wax pellet that expands and contracts
and drilling there might keep the pellet cool and the thermostat closed untill it is really at 160 perhaps warming the engine and oil a little faster

Well I have a $23 reman water pump on my truck right now.

So I ordered a pump from Stewart.. and a stat.

I have seen the Edelbrock pumps also.. I want to try the Stewart pump. I am also thinking of going with a bigger radiator....

Kind of off topic.. but I think there is some good information on that cooling page.

I am probably going to get one of those fans also.

It is just hot in Tennessee and I cannot run my AC while I am in traffic with my current set up... especially if I move my tranny cooler up there.

So back into my hole I go.

Nick,

I have one of those fans sitting in my garage if you want it.....the shroud is SLIGHTLY cracked (lower left corner has a little damage)....sell it to you cheap...hows $20 and shipping sound? I pulled it out of a 3.8l Taurus a while back.

If Nick doesn't want the fan, anyone else is welcome to the same deal....I have no use for it and want it to go away :D
