Finally got around to doing this today.
I tried getting the lines out without cutting, but couldn't get to the bolt that connects the lines to the block housing, so I just cut them. The PITA part was I let my dad borrow my sawzall. I ended up cutting them with an air saw and it worked out ok. How much oil should go in after doing this delete?

Somewhat related to this... but does anyone have the part number for the gasket/o-ring for the block adapter on hand? Mine is leaking and I figured while I have the front diff and t-case removed giving me a lot of working room, I could replace the lines and seals. Get rid of the minor oil leak happening down there.

Is the adapter (GM part#14081300) the same part that is in the remote oil filter housing? Can you just re-use it if you pull it out of the housing?.
I went doing the conversion last evening and can now confirm, that in the remote housing is not the same adapter. First, it seems shorter and second, it did not had allen hex socket inside, so it could not screwed out from the housing.
I tried to screw it out with different pliers and even heated it but it did not came out.

1) Here's the adapter you need. Make sure you clean it well if you're using a used one. Short side goes into the block.

BTW, our Finnish/Swedish users can use following part for replacement, if needed... :)
(It's M18x1.5 on both ends, but it screws to engine block easily and although it can be used, I am using it only as temporary solution until correct GM part arrives and then it will be replaced with oil/filter change).
