converter?

hey guys I have to change my flex plate due to cracks in it and thought this would be a great time to change converter if needed. what you think would be best for my combo if at all?
stock motor, rpm stage one turbo, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, turbo tweak chip, alky kit, roller rockers, 20lbs boost, just your basic bolt on"s. turbo just seems little lazy in first gear. don't know if its due too turbo or if a small stall might help it .
tell me ol wise ones

Re: converter?

I think it depends on what you are going for. My build is a little more aggressive than yours but I am going to run a 2600 rpm stall because I personally feel it will be a bit more streetable but still give good performance. Sean Krupa has a build similar to what I am going for but a bit bigger turbo and runs a 3200 rpm stall and that seems to work great for his goals but his truck sees less daily use than what I want out of mine. Those are just things to think about. I have read a lot of positive things about 2800 rpm 9/11 converters and plenty of people say that they are "streetable" but that term can vary from person to person.

Re: converter?

I stepped up to a 2400 stall converter. ...it's the one that hood sells by b&m....it's a torque master. ...for the price it can't be beat. ...it's around $250.....I'm not trying to track my truck so I saw no reason for a 3000 stall converter for $1000-1500 dollars.....plus I talked to my trans builder and he said you'll generate more heat and loose snappiness.....The bigger the stall the more you will have to push the gas to get the vehicle to move by the way and some people don't like that....

Re: converter?

2800 to 3000. Are you planning on racing? If yes a little higher maybe. It always strikes me that Mike (with all due respect, I've met him, great guy) or anyone else can sell a 2800, or any other RPM, converter off the shelf. A converter see;s nothing but torque. 2800 for you may be 3000 for me because I make more torque. Or visa versa. Might help if you had a dyno run. Probably a no-no with a cracked flex plate.

I was running 3200 but I race. Whole 'nuther story but currently 2800 and I don't like it. It will be changed this winter. The lower RPM would definitely make it more streetable. :2cents:
