Coil question

In step one of metering the coil my meter read open loop. Step two .9ohms, and step 3 9.07ohms. So what we have here is a bad coil right because step one is open? Is it ok to use a coil from napa, autozone etc to replace this one?

Huh?

Can you be more specific? What test is this? What problem are you trying to trace? What exactly are you measuring?

Need more info please...

If you look on the cd page 6d4-6 in the jimmy service manual you will see how to test the coil with a meter. I am thinking that the distributor or the coil is going bad because that's the only 2 parts left that have not been changed. My ty will not hold an idle. It has been wandering for a while but now it's just awful. It stalls all the time.

basically the question i have is what does the term "infinite" mean while reading these books? Are they referring to open loop or a dead short? I did a search for coil and someone else has their meter showing 0.1 for the first test and mine shows ol. One of ours is bad i would think.

Update. The coolent temp sensor was bad causing the computer to see a cold motor thus dumping more fuel. I am however still interetsed in finding out the correct value for the coil.

when i see someone say their truck stalls i start to salavate.

Infinite resistance on your meter if its digital will say 0.L
