Code 63

Another post today y'all.....

So I've had problems with the brakes since I bought my typhoon. When I first bought it, the fade was terrible. After an ABS stop on gravel, the fade got a bit better. That led me to believe the abs valve was just stuck. Also, when I ran the ac, the fade got worse. I did replace the vacuum lines.

Much later, like six months later, the abs/brake light came on. It was throwing like five codes. After I cleared the light and the light came back on after 100 miles it threw and still throws a 63. After I got a brake job done, replaced both leaking rear wheel cylinders and bled the system properly, 63 was still popping up. I had the tech clear the system and the light stayed off.

Now if the code reappears, does that mean the rear side of the abs module is done???

Re: Code 63

Its hard to say, mine has code 63 as well. The code is clumped in with a bunch of others that only says "check grounds or loose wires if not it may need to be replaced". I could not find any other info on code 63...

Re: Code 63

GM came out with a TSB for those in October of 1992.

TSB 92U005 revised to 923155.

Basically:

Code 61, 62 or 63
Reset Switches

Install Tech1
Ignition "ON"
DTC 61, 62 or 63 displayed
Ignition "OFF"
Replace BPMV

I couldn't find this TSB for Syclone/Typhoons either. This was under S15/T15.
