Code 44

Hello,

I have recenlty removed my code 59 chip and put in my stock memcal. I removed my WBO2 and put in a stock O2 sensor. When I run my stock memcal, I get a code 44. Prior to removing my WBO2, my AFRs with the stock memcal and 2 bar map were 11.5 across the board @ WOT. Now, after the installation of the stock O2 sensor and removal of the WBO2, my Ty is getting a code 44 which is a "lean reading" of the O2 sensor. This makes no sence when I know my AFR's were good.

I am suspecting my new O2 sensor is bad?

When I put my code 59 chip and 3 bar map in the typhoon, I don't get the code 44.

Any thoughts?

I did hook up TP and my O2 voltages was reading ZERO at a constant speed and @ WOT it was reading only 250Mv. I did get a new O2 sensor and I think the O2 sensor is bad, yet it is reading, just not much. My Wide Band O2 is reading my AFR's 12-13 at a constant speed, and 11.4-11.6 @ WOT. That being said, I really think the O2 sensor is either bad or the wrong one. It's a 3 wire O2 sensor I purchased off of eBay who said it is the correct part.

Any hlep would be appreciated.

You should verify the voltage at the sensor (connector) to ensure it is not a wiring issue. If it is low as well then you need to force the vehicle rich (propane is what I use). You don't need to see black smoke, but you need to feel the engine speed change. I should slow and sound "fat". Read the sensor output then.

You could also use manifold vacuum to "suck fuel" into the engine as well. The NB sensor should be 800mV at anything over 1% CO. That is easily doable with either method.

Thanks for your reply. I put my Code 59 tune back in my TY and still my O2 Mv's are reading 450 and below. My WBO2 sensor is reading perfect. Now, when added my stock O2 sensor, my MV's read 450 and under, yet @ WOT, my afr's = 11.4-11.6, but my O2 Mv readings go down to Zero instead to 800-900Mv's. I think its is definalty a wiring issue or a bad O2 sensor. I have zero Kr @ 17 psi of boost on 92 octane. The preplexing thing is that I have never had any issues with my O2 readings until I replaced my O2 sensor, hence why I am suspecting the O2 sensor.

Now, where and/or how shall I check the wiring on my O2 sensor? I know that there are 3 wires and that's about it..... I'm lost and would appreciate help from anyone willing:tup:

Purple wire is the signal wire (PCM side of harness). It connects to the PCM on the green connector (E14, 3rd wire from the end).

Your meter wired as follows- Red lead connected to Purple wire. Black lead connected to a good ground. Meter should not be autoranging. Watch the meter (after the sensor warms up). See what it is doing (reading lean?) Add your extra fuel. Vehicle should be running rich, sound dull, blubbering and such. Meter should be reading over 800mv, but record values. Check the other two wires with your meter. You should get system voltage there or you are missing a ground or power. Post up. Discuss.

You really should get something to datalog with.

What voltage should I be reading at the pigtail at where the O2 sensor plugs in when the car is on and the O2 sensor is unplugged?

I just got my new O2 sensor so I'll put it in when I get home from work at the end of the week. Saturday or Sunday I hope to put the new O2 sensor in and check voltages;)
I had unplugged the O2 sensor and then plugged the pigtail back in and my O2 Mv's were from 450 to Zero. At first, I was reading 650Mv, then I blipped the throttle and they dropped to exactly 450Mv. Then once I started to drive her, ZERO. I can't wait to see what the new O2 sensor will show. Once the car reads zero Mv, it only registers 250Mv and below.

I do have tuner pro which is what I use to data log.
