You might have a fuel pump going bad or a fpr going bad. But you should install a new O2 sensor anyway.

Re: Code 44?

im so broke for the next couple weeks that i dont even want to think of a new fuel pump. the thing is i throw the code and then it turns off 20 seconds later. i thought fuel pumps whent bad or they are still good. the fuel pressure reg. is about month old so it better not be that.

Re: Code 44?

I'm throwing a code #44 too and a CEL as well that comes one and goes off here and there. Just started tonight and I've never seen a CEL light on this truck otherwise. The fuel pump in it is a Walbro that's about a year old and only has a few thousand miles on it so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. Also, new fuel filter and adjustable FPR so I think about the only cause left is the O2 sensor. I have a known working (at the time anyway) O2 sensor plugging an unused O2 bung so I'll try to plug that one in and see if it makes a difference. I read somewhere that an O2 sensor that isn't plugged in can fail sooner than one that is so it's possible that this one is crap too. Either way, I should know something tomorrow to be able to add to our issue. Also, check your vacuum lines and your intake manifold gasket.
