... clonk ! *arrrg*

howdie guys - it's me again !

got a new prob :squint: - when rolling out through the red light (at the crossing *hehe*) i normally push the brake to stand still and shift into N - think it helps keeping the tranny cool, aye ?
when green's coming up and i shift in D there it comes ... a lil squeeze from the body (think it quite normal *gg*) and then sometimes : a lil clonk ! - also then i can feel like a lil metallic vibration underneath my feet :(

- but when hitting the brakes hard(er) and faster from rolling to stand-still, the clonk occurs louder and harder and nearly everytime *grmmml*

feels like the time my torsionbar-mounts where fawked up - but they're new now ...
... front driveshafts and the probshafts are also fit :dunno:

... is it possible that the motormounts can affect this  ::steamer: ???

as always - counting on you guys and hoping for your help ...

TIA, pat.

its called drivetrain slap very common in 4wd, Awd vehicles, basically normal. i found it to make less noise when i put the trans selector into (2) instead of (D) when coming to a stop. leave it in gear at a stop, N doesn't really do anything special for cooling

I may be wrong, but does putting the trans in N disengage the pump, thus causing fluid not to circulate and cool off, hence getting actually hotter?

now thats really interesting !!! - i thought it should help (cant remember from whom i heard it ...)

but :

get me right - it sounds so hard and metallic ... not that kind it uses to sound normally from shiftdown into 1st gear  and it's a 2nd sound - no possibility for motor-mount ???

those torsion bar mounts can make all kinds of weird, banging, squeaking, twangy noises. commonly they do thump the floor near your feet. even tho their 'new', check them agian, theres alot of torque twisting the body/suspension,its not unheard of for them to break...agian.
also, check the body mounts-same deal. body may be lifting/shifting..

Putting a tranny in nuetral doesnt disengage the pump. If the engine is running, and the torque converter is bolted to the engine (like it should be) then the pump is running full time. As for cooling, it may help to have it in N vs D while sitting still, but I think if you have a stock converter that the difference would be marginal.

ahhh, another opinion - sounds conclusive
