Clogged catalytic convertor

I believe my cat is clogged from running a 160 t-stat. Can someone please tell me the symptoms of a clogged cat and would you recommend gutting it or will this cause me to overboost. Is taking the cat off and gutting it a simple procedure or am I going to start making up more words and phrases that children should never hear. Thanks. Anyone have one for sale?

I have a hollow cat FS, if I can get it off the down pipe, but hollow cats have tendency to cause boost spikes, if not properly accounted for.

When you full throttle your truck, it will feel like it has no power, but when you let off the pedal a bit, the power will come back...

running a 16- stat WILL ruin your cat (IF your computer hasnt been re-adjusted for it). your truck will run rich because the comp doesnt know its at opperating temp and unburnt fuel will RUIN a cat. the easiest way to check an cat to see if is functioning is by takeing a temp gun (or something to read temp with) and shoot the inlet and the outlet of the cat. the inlet temp should be AT LEAST 100F COOLER than the outlet. the chemical reaction taking place inside causes the temp to rise. :D
