Re: clicking noise while backing up

ok, well i bought a transfer case from someone on here how claimed it was a sy-ty transfer case. went today to change them out......well, my truck is sitting on jackstands and not running because the "new" transfer case is wrong. the rear output shaft is bigger than my sy output shaft and the houseing for the rear is different too.......AGHHHH!!!!!!!!! does the syty transfer case have a smaller or larger shaft than the other simular transfercases? the numbers on the actual tc are the same but the ones on the rear ouseing are ----out of my sy 13-72-066-901--- and the "new" is 44-72-066-901. the exciter ring on the shaft for that sensor in the rear houseing is the same on both.....I would have just reinstalled my tc and delt with it later but the bearings in mine are shot..any help......please.....

MrNurse I assume you fixed the clunking? I have the same problem right now. If you backup and turn the wheel you hear a "ping...click" like a binding sound. Then when you go forward you hear a "click...click...click........" then its back to normal.

Re: clicking noise while backing up

ok, after throwing parts at it until thenoise went away, it ended up being the propshaft that was making the noise, i am sure it did nothurt putting the new stuff in, but putting a gilbert in fixed the noise........well, that noise anyways

Re: clicking noise while backing up

Thx for the quick update :)
I have a gilbert and quick ratio steering box sitting in the garage for my Blk/Blk Ty. My Blk/Grey is the clicker... :p what a dilemma...
Anyone know exactly what part of the propshaft is making the noise?
