Cladding repair product

Stab it and steer it
I've done a lot of searching and very few actual product names/numbers are mentioned. I need to reattach one tab and build another.

I need either (or both) some good product names/numbers and/or the type of plastic to use as weld material. I've talked to a welder but need more info if I'm gonna have it welded.

Thanks

research a product called ( LORDS ADHESIVE https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS582US582&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=lords%20adhesive%20406&oq=lords%20adhesive%20406&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l2.5903j0j7 ) preferable 406 dries faster, we use this in metal/plastic fabrication at my company will bond both metal to metal or whatever, industrial stuff, its not really flexible and i have never used it for anything other then at work but dont see why it wouldnt work amazing stuff. just have to sand down/scrape tp bare metal clean all metal from residue, basically scuff up all surfaces

Re: Cladding repair product

After messing with plastic welding, or melting, with a stainless mesh for strength, it was a PITA. I went to a local body shop and got some old damaged urethane bumpers and such for free. I then found the perfect curve spot and cut it out for the tabs. I now use Evercoat Maxim medium urethane two part. It takes a special gun, but if prepped right, i.e. 40 grit, then prep/cleaner, it holds really well. And it has a bit of flex. I was talking to another member on FB the other day about fixing repair of cladding, and what I found was the best, as far as front surface repair, was melting little broken bits of cladding and building it up. Wait til it cools completely, then sand flush. It is the same material, so it sands the same as the cladding. Of course, re-enforcing the back side of the crack or gouge first with mesh. The Evercoat works well on the back side.:2cents:

Hey Don
I use a 30 minute epoxy to re-attach a tab. Most important in keeping them from breaking off again is to distribute the gluing force over a larger area.
Once the epoxy is dry I take two ounce fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin and lay up a pad extending about an inch and a half around the tab, and up the sides of the tab.
Before doing any gluing it's important to rough up the surface. I use an exact knife and scratch a cross hatch pattern onto all the surfaces.

If you need to build a tab, go to Walmart and look at the plastic spatulas...they're made of a high temp, flexible plastic (look for one the right thickness). Cut it to the right shape and attach as mentioned above.
I've tested this method up to 120mph 😁

Re: Cladding repair product

I used the Valvoline brand Pliogrip, comes in different setup times and requires its own dispenser. As well as a spray on adhesion promotor.

I thought it was great.

Re: Cladding repair product

you dont need the mixing tubes or guns at all, thats just to apply instantly, just buy the tube and push out and mix, no different then any other 2 part mix. we use it daily.
