Chromoly Dustan suspension parts

I am an engineer, and the one that brought up the issue.

I don't have the calculations in front of me, in fact I think we tossed them, but I will gladly put that data up, after you do the material analysis. We can then plug in the #'s, and see in THEORY when it will break.

Theory doesn't though, predict what happens when shock is applied, for examply a pot hole. That is why engineers use a safety factor.

Don't quote me, but if I remeber the shear force to break the adaptor (using mild steel #'s), was like 6k lbs.

So, take a 4k lb truck, turn a corner, hit a pothole, lets just say I do not want to be a passenger.

I have only brought up ANY of this info because I fear for someones safety, and or the trucks. As an engineer, and having my buddy who has a Masters in Engineering working with me on the calculations, we both agreed, something needed to be said, BEFORE any problems existed.

IMO it is not IF it is WHEN.

That's the problem with a small market such as our's, when you piss off a few owners, everyone knows about it and soon your business suffers.

Gotta move onto bigger markets then, where there are many more people to piss off first before everyone knows about you.

Prime example would be KB.

2nd sentence. Weather.

It seems Al's mastery of the english language is matched only by the quality of his customer service.

3rd sentence. specializes forced induction.

All Sales are Final and no returns are excepted.

All Deposits are non refundable.
Obviously annoyed that some of the unsatisfied customers were able to recoup their losses, Al tries ensure that anyone foolish enough to send him money will lose it.

So did everyone get there suspension kits or money back that was waiting for the stuff?
I would like to know why he could not get the kits out in a timely manner.

Dustan Excuse List:
Waiting for powdercoating
Waiting for heim joints
Too many phone calls coming in
Employees tricked him
Assorted accidents/injuries/surgeries
Didn't take enough money in the deposits
It's hard to run a small business

This is off the top of my head - can anyone think of other excuses they've heard? Anyone know the real reason??

In an email message to me Al Dustan said:
As far as the shippments are concerned, yes there were many screw ups on my part. Not only my fault but also my employees faults(which have been fired and ultimetly my fault), They did say stuff got shipped that never did and I was unaware of it for some time. I do have a lot going on here and it is very hard to run a small buisness, Did I take on too much with this GP, probably. Will everyone get there kits, absolutely. I have had them here for some time now and most people have not paid the balance for them. I did not take enough money in the deposites for these kits and therefore did even make enough to cover the parts envolved. As far as me lieing to you. I did not lie as far as new the truth to be. I was under the impression that your stuff did ship out. When you emailed me I did a check and found that not only yours but two others did ship when I thought they did. After this discovery I did fire my employee who was responsible for this. Again, I do appologize for the way this turned out.
Actually, there's other excuses in there I missed - "Didn't take enough money in the deposits", and "It's hard to run a small business". I'll add them to the list.

I'm still waiting. I'd proposed he call me with a tracking number and I'd give him my CC # right then, assuming the shipping company can ver'y the number. Or hell, send it COD.
"Ready now, one final push...harder,harder,HARDER! After 9+ months, I can see the head!! It's MOST OF MY SUSPENSION KIT ?!?!"

That's what I fear the most, having none of the money and fighting for things like steering stops, bushings, etc...

I'll shoot him an e-mail tonight. Any bets on what'll happen?

i think Al and Tony Dequick should try to start up a business together. Maybe they can teach eachother how to fabricate stuff that doesnt fit.

Heck, if you don't get the parts does it really matter if they fit?

Maybe Ray Charles could do their quality control? "Looks good to me  "
