Check engine light came up

and this is what i got: Exhaust Gas Recirculation System. I just drove down from north kansas, about 500 miles. Didn't have any problems with the truck (92 ty) until about 20 minutes away from my house. Check engine light came on and i heard some rattling under the hood. I get home...pop the hood, and see that the heat cover? over the inter cooler has come off. Then I get a 32 from the check engine light and see that it's the exhaust gas recirculation system. I just got done with finals week, my cruise control didn't work the whole way home so my leg is killing me, and now all this...can someone help me?

"Check engine light came on and i heard some rattling under the hood", sounds like the fun of being a Typhoon owner :rotf:

Re: Check engine light came up

the EGR valve is located on the passengers side of the upper intake manifold close to the firewall. Make sure that everything is connected to it and that nothing is loose or broken.

the cover might of hit the egr or ripped the hose of it

That's what came to mind for me too. You were on the freeway, and that's when an EGR system does it's magic. Make sure your vacuum line is still connected.

The EGR control solinoid is on the LH side of the engine, on the same bracket with the MAP. The EGR, cruise and A/C controls get their vacuum from the rear of the upper intake. If there is a problem here with vacuum lines, it could affect all three.

ok....i'm going with that because i'm not getting any a/c through the vents, my cruise isn't working, and i guess...with the 32 error...my EGR is messed up. How would i go about fixing all that? and, (the one down side of having a ty for a dd) how long will it take? I need my car as soon as possible so hopefully this isn't a huge fix.
