anyone who can tell me what code 12 and code 31 are? thanks for the help!!!

Code 12 is nothing. It just means the terminal is grounded with the ignition on.
This code will flash whenever the diagnostic terminal is grounded with the ignition turned On and the engine not running. If additional trouble codes are stored in the ECM then they will appear after this code has flashed 3 times. If this code appears while the engine is running, no reference pulses from the distributor are reaching the ECM.
Code 31 is wastegate overboost. What kinda mods do you have?

the truck has an exhaust and a k and n 78.000miles could have a chip but havnt checked,,,the boost solonoid was bad, changed it,,,the other day at 100mph the truck would not shift into 4th gear,the check engine came on. i havnt disconnected the battery after i changed the solonoid, i disconnected it today but havnt got to 100 yet. im thinking the computer could be wacked.

You can use this this link to help you decipher what the various codes are and what their corrective action(s) may be. As already mentioned, STAY OUT of boost until you figure out what the source of your problem is. With these trucks, you are only one good WOT blast away from disaster if things aren't running right...
