Chatter from rear window

I'm getting an annoying chatter from my rear window. If I slam it close very hard, it goes away....but only for a while. Any ideas on a fix?

Pretty much impossible to fix. I've tried several things from adding rubber washers to greasing, but nothing works. Just a common problem with these trucks.

If you remove the tailgate cover there is some adjustment in the latch the holds the glass.
You can tighten it there.

Then make sure you grease the metal loop that the latch grabs onto.
Also keep that weatherstripping wiped down with armorall so its always slippery.

Also make sure the bolts holding the hinges to the glass are snug., do not overtighten.

A little silicone spray on the latch and some armorall on the weather stripping and it's fixed.....for the time being!

on my blazer i used to put a layer of electric tape on the metal loop on the glass, works for about two weeks then replace it

Yeah, this is what I do too..but then a couple weeks turns into a couple months and I just live with the rattle. If you have the time do the latch thing.

I just turn the stereo and subwoofer up and the problem mysteriously dissapears. :wink:
